Hello Everyone!

I am actually working on a 2D platform game with Nes Style.

I want the Hero to enter in 16 x 16 pixel, it gives me a little trouble with the design, let me explain.

Here how the Hero look (NPA)

and how he look in pixel

(stopped)
(walking)

I want him to be black, white and grey, ingame he will mainly be on a black background so I added gray lines around him.

My problems is that I'm not entirely convinced of the animation when he runs, something like this would be nice,

but its difficult to render with the design I gave to my character.

If anyone can help me with this, ill be wonderfully grateful!

With a 16x16 restriction you will never be 100% happy.
The running one looks good if you made him thinner.

if this is a platform game, make the sprite bigger, at least 24x16.

The 4th one captures the character well in proportions and look. The 3rd is better because it shows more detail but the 4th still works better for me.

Yeah, like jalonso said, the third or fourth versions work best in terms of reading like the drawing you have in your first post. The first one is good too, but makes me think of a 'zombie mode' for the character. You could get away with having a tiny character sprite if your character was more along the same proportions (I am well into making a game where the monkey/player is only 14 pixels tall), but your guy is so lanky and lean that if you saw your drawing next to the original sprite, people wouldn't automatically think they were the same.
