So it has to be human and the ages are set at 10 20 40 80?
Can it be something, like oh say... Mario?
8-bit Donkey Kong Mario > 32-bit SNES Mario > 3D rendered Wii Mario > some far off hologram future Mario at age 80?
Just crazy ideas, you know how I can get.

I'm sure there will be lots of anatomy issues with this challenge. I don't know where I'm going with this, but I had some time today. It's a start? Maybe pregnant at 40? lol Any c+c would be appreciated.

@All, it seems challenge entries MUST be full body and not portraits. Some convo on that in the gallery news item.
Found a good ref/example http://tysonhesse.blogspot.com/2010/04/awkward-aging.html - HERE - http://caterpillarpublishing.com/?p=445 - HERE

do you have to see to the feet? What about to the knees cause I did two portraits already and if I reduce them by 50 percent I won't have to start over but I can't fit the whole body in just to the knees.

Tryin' out a 16 colour palette for the other challenge...

(Hoping the 80's version is full-body enough?)

Well, full body is full body.
Looking good so far though. However, the 10 year old's shirt seems a bit messy.

Hey jalonso, I'm not seeing a big difference between age 20 and 40. I guess this is a good thing because I am 30 . Maybe some more grey in the 40 year olds hair.(the receding hairline helps)
|
Posted By: ellie-is

Ten years old looks too old.
And... This isn't really as good as most of your work. But again, its just a WIP, so I will give it some time.

99% chance I won't win because there is a 99% chance I won't enter :p
Y'alls may think I can do no wrong, but, I fail at sprites and anatomy as it relates to pixelart. This has always been my weakness. I over pixel and hands never seem to work out well. I do take most opportunities to try and improve my spritin' and that's all I was doing here.

I was kidding about Jalonso rigging the challenge. sorry for the misunderstanding.
anyway, here's mine so far.

The kid needs a lot of work. I've been mainly focusing on the knight so far. I plan for age 40 to have him mounted on a horse, and age 80 maybe an old king.

I knew that ;)
Did they have that kind of clothing(on 10 year old) in the Middle Ages? Maybe more 'raggy' looking. Hair on 20yo is too stiff/wierd.

dpixel: I think a more identifiable face would make it more interesting. I notice that a lot of the other entries have disproportionately large heads and focus more on the face than your realistically-proportioned work does.
Also, I feel like you should include her husband--most people don't dance alone, most people don't get pregnant alone, etc. Maybe she should have her kid/husband by her side in the last frame?

Thanks for the input. You're probably right. Compared to the others, mine isn't all that interesting. A disproportionate large head is something I haven't done before. I'll have to practice that. I might skip this challenge now that I see the competition mounting.

I'm also gong to participate. Wanna see how far I can take this.I managed to finalize the poses really early, so all that leaves me with is to purty it up, also the current colors (and jaggy lines) aren't final. by the way would it be OK if I used something like this as a preview? The portrait was originally intended for 40's, but after checking the rules a second time I realised it said full body.. Don't know how I missed it, anyways I promise it won't be too misleading!

What if she got pregnant after going to a dancing party alone(and stayed pregnant for 20 years)? :P

@Korcha, I don't see a problem with a portrait for a preview for this.

@a3um, that's coming out great!
@lumi-mae, I love that you added some depth in the BG but I just don't know that that much dithering serves the piece. Maybe color 1st panel using the 2nd panel's color. The 2nd panel using the 3rd panel's colors, etc. The clouds seem to take away being that prominent too. Your piece is great, but I think you may need to edit yourself a bit. Maybe you/others disagree?

It wasn't your suggestions, although I do agree with them (except I don't think a husband would be allowed in this challenge...lol). It was more seeing some of the great WIPs made me rethink my approach and my style. We'll see though. I might make some modifications.

The most pieces was Metaru with something like 12 one week. I did 7 pieces for se7en's challenge.
I think pain won 1-2-3 one week.
I'm not entering any this week. I just keep messing around cuz this challenge has so many easy ideas to tell age. Maybe I'll make some huge 'It's a Small World' thing with every tribe I can find...I also have aborigines and an Amazon jungle tribe half doodled...may post :p
