CHALLENGE: IRL RPS

This challenge is from winner http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/21348.htm - Mis-BUG . He wants you to show a literal interpretation of a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock-paper-scissors - rock-paper-scissors battle. Anything is fine, as long as it clearly depicts a physical battle between two of the objects (as oppose to an abstraction of a battle using hand gestures). So, for example; your image could show a giant rock falling on a man holding a pair of scissors.

The objects don't need to react like they do normally, so your entry might show a piece of paper somehow destroying a pair of scissors. Also, you may show the same object twice (ie. a rock vs. a rock).

Canvas Size - Max 200 x 250. Either horizontal or vertical.
Colours - Max 16.
Transparency - No.
Animation - Optional.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

New to pixel art and pixel joint, so hopefully have the right idea about this. Still lots of work to do but i'm keen to enter.

Is this okay or is it not IRL enough (more fictional?)

I believe the IRL part only meant actual rock, paper or scissors fighting.

I assume it's paper vs. rock...but I'm not quite sure what's going on. I'm guessing that they're dropping paper bombs on a bunch of rocks?? Maybe make one of the rocks larger/stand out somehow, so the concept is a bit clearer. Right now it looks like the planes are flying over some sort of strange landscape, rather than specifically rocks.

Also, I would suggest not flipping or copy/pasting the sprites.

@Ravagence; you should shade the rock, paper and the mountains. Also I would recommend against using black outlines. You don't need them in this piece.

Both look great.
Kevin, I'd suggest weakening the scissors a little more, and leaving the paper at full health, since it resists rock and all. :P

I too liked the headband. D:
Might want to add some scratches to the rock, or maybe dull or warped parts to the scissors implying 'war wounds.' Also, I'd have a cowardly rock watching his friend duke it out alone peaking over one of the tree roots in the background.
I look forward to seeing this finished!
