Hello, I am new to this forum, but I would like some advice on how to improve the walk cycle of my 6-legged potato beetle friend.

As you can see, the motion of his front and back legs is a bit jerky, but that's kind of normal for a beetle, so I'm not sure how to feel about it. Also, i feel like his antennae should be more animated.

I'm new to the art, so feel free to educate me on elementary points.

Thanks!

I like it, but on a light background the yellow color is hard to see. This is only an issue in frames 3 and 4 when the top pixels on the back are yellow. Before and after those frames the yellow is all contained within the black lines, but in those frames the yellow is unshielded from the light background that I'm seeing it against in the forum. Otherwise I think the side to side shifting of the beetle's body looks good and shows the curvature of it, like a dome shape.

Essentially, Tanuki is right. It would be against a light background, but I
couldn't imagine the beetle going against a background thats exposed to
light. In pixel art there is generally an unspoken rule to not use black lines
on a piece unless it's only the outline.

You could also try to change those black lines to a darker version of the colour
they are separating. The colours themselves are pretty bad, they could definitely
be reworked, so don't be afraid to change around the palette. When you
change colours, don't increase or decrease the colour's lighting by shifting JUST
the brightness, you can also shift hues and adjust the saturation of the colour.

There are so many more pointers I could give you, but I think you'd
understand it better if you read it and saw it with pictures http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299 - HERE .

Good luck!
