And by “fictitious”, do you mean something that has already made presence in works of fiction such as books, films, games etc.,  or entirely left to artist's imagination, like a chief of telepathic bipedal seagulls from another solar system, for example?

It should be human. I would assume that by "fictitious" it should simply not be a real tribe.

How do you know seagulls aren't considered human in a different solar system?
Anyway, it would be nice to hear the official answer.

You should be creating a chief from your own invented human tribe.

Do you really need someone to explain to you that seagulls aren't human?

Thanks for clearing things up.

And if it's all the same to you, i'll plead the fifth on your second question.

wikipedia:

##############################################

The most common types are the chairman of a council (usually of ' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elder_%28administrative_title%29 - elders ') and/or a broader http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popular_assembly - popular assembly in 'parliamentary' cultures, the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_chief - war chief (may be an alternative or additional post in war time), the hereditary chief and the politically dominant http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Medicineman - medicineman (in ' http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theocracy - theocratic ' cultures).

##############################################

I think all of them are chieftains. So is it meant to draw anyone from them or just the "real" chief (e.g. the Native American guy who wears the mane like feathered headdress) I understand the "fictitious"

Chieftains exist outside of the pop culture depictions of Native Americans, in all sorts of cultures around the world.
Pixel a chief from a technologically primitive culture. The head honcho of a tribe. He could be a warrior-chieftain, he could be a chieftain due to his ability to commune with the gods of the tribe, etc. So long as he is a tribal monarch, it should be fine. Just remember that he is first and foremost chieftain and leader.

Remember that the tribe is fictitious, no Comanches or Cherokees.

It sounds like your work requires revision before it'll be approved. Cure already made some suggestions for it in this thread of yours- http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11915 - LINK

http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=6 - this is the resources/support forum
http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11299 - this is the tutorial I was directing you towards

your art suffers from quality issues that prevent it from being accepted (hence linking you to the tutorial), but beyond that, you saved as .gif in a program that doesn't support .gif (probably paint). in the future, save as png. you could also save as bmp and convert to gif using iaza.com or giffy.

Looks great so far, LBpixels. Colors seem a bit washed out though.

Wolf Tribe chieftain. They are a nomads who follow the migrating caribou herds in the far north. I made that up just now.

I want a more interesting pose, but the canvas size isn't giving me a lot of room. >_>

The palette will probably change because while sketching he transformed from a half clothed jungle man wearing tiger skins to a fully clothed arctic man with deer leather and wolf skins, so I don't think the orange will suite it too well at this point.

edit-

I've been looking at photos of inuit.

--
I haven't seen anyone else include something other than just the person, but I assume it's fine for me to have his latest kill behind him.

--
haven't done much on it today because of other things going on. The wolf hat is what identifies him as the "pack leader" of this hunting tribe.

----

It's turning out badly and I won't have time to finish... X_X
