It's very interesting, but also very pale. I made an edit with terrible colors, but it's just an idea of having stronger contrast-

I also noticed that the light color you used is actually a very light green, which seems strange for a desert.

I Arcacno,
I agree with tanuki that you can play some more with the colors, although I am not sure if the ones tanuki suggest are the right ones. Whatever you choose, it is always difficult with just 2 colors.

one problem I have with this piece is that the horizon is so angled while the guy is standing straight up! It makes it impossible for me to view this piece and figure out where/how the viewer is standing!!

Also, especially with a higher contrast color scheme I think that the transition from solid dark to solid bright is really quick and a little disturbing therefor. I like it that you have a big open space, but perhaps you could do a little more loose pixels near the edge, or draw the oudlines from another dune. Or, you could of course make it obvious that he s standing on a dune and that that is the big open spot.
Good luck!

woops, i thought that light green and red were a good combination.

agree, i used a soft contrast to avoid that but didn't work well; also those  pure black areas confuse the eyes, i'll work on that

Everybody says that less is more, so i tried to use an empty space just to experiment:P

Less can be more, but in some cases you might need a proper transition :). It is a good thing in this case to have an open space I guess, and even better is to experiment a lot!
