Hey all. I'm new here, and new to pixel art as well. Ultimately I'm trying to get comfortable enough with the medium to develop a style for a game that a friend and I are currently writing. Really ground-up kind of stuff. So here's my first go after reading a handful of tutorials and spending about an hour in Photoshop (Indexed Color, kept it at 4 for now, not married to the color, just trying to get something fleshlike with some varying value). I have no experience with Manual AA, but I have a feeling this might need some of it? Not too sure, so looking for feedback.

Any glaring errors thus far? Or suggestions on what I could do with it? I have a loose idea of this character eventually being a Theravada monk, orange-robed and sandaled, but didn't want to tackle cloth yet. Figured I'd try to hammer out the basics of pixeling on a human head first.
Thanks!

I think you should have more yellow in your highlights and, overall, more contrast. The direction of you light is head-on, which is kind of boring, and it's causing you to pillowshade a bit on the forehead and cheeks. Ears don't attach to his head correctly--should probably have a line of dark color separating them.
If this is gonna be a portrait, you may want to choose a more exciting angle than straight ahead.
