Hello everybody, I've not been on here in a while but I've been pixelling an alter for a project I'm starting and would like some eyes on it. It's obviously a wip.
This will be going up on my site and the idea is to make the character look like a leaded light in a church window so the lighting should reflect that intention.
See the picture >>> http://lolokaust.com/saints/saint_fritzl.png - HERE --- WARNING: This picture shows a penis in a religious context and possible other offensive material to some.
I'm not so much a pixeller but more of a straight up MS Painter so the detailed placing of pixels is really out of my zone so lets see what you think.
Someone say black outlines? Yes, its a leaded light.

Well, I think the Fritzl picture needs a bigger penis and perhaps some blood from his daughter's miscarriage. Have you considered adding more swastikas?

I really like your thinking but less can be more. This project will be text and art which means theres plenty of cocks, swastikas and blood to soak into the other frames.

I think that the adult content warning does not do this thread justice. It's very offensive, and I can see why many would refuse to offer criticism on such work...

I have edited your first post and labeled a warning. Maybe you forgot our deal from several months ago about being sensitive to the yung-ones and the possibility of showing areas of the image where pixelart specific techniques are desired without having to show anything overly OTT. A religious subject in a sexualized manner is actually just a notch over the previous rape images.
No discussions this time from me. Just keep the focus on technique, the technical and whenever possible censor yourself when posting, so that I don't have to, thx.

jal, sorry if this kind of discussion is inappropriate, but I do find it ironic that you chose to remove the swastikas from your own art, from fear of offending others, but have no objections here. That's not criticism btw.
I do think the original piece is quite offensive, both at face value and in terms of implications, and I am surprised to see it tolerated.

I removed them from my own art as a personal decision and artistic choice. I must be tolerant here because I always claim that PJ judges on pixelart techniques, process and its procedures and technicalities and never on subject matter or content. These are personal creative expressions which no-one can judge but the artist him/herself. PJ has a porn/sexuality clause so making a WIP thread does not mean its going in the gallery or condoned by PJ in any way. These pieces (Oekaki Oekrappi) are most likely not to be added to the gallery for its pixelling. In being open-minded, tolerant and inclusive one must be ready for both ends of the spectrum so even if reluctantly we have to allow everyone to get c+c and feedback on their pixels. Its what we claim the forum to be. Here the subject matter might be easier to call offensive but we can't call it out as such or else anything Christian will need to be treated similarly as many PJers are Muslim. No more Tsunami pixelart because many PJers are Japanese. Everything and anything CAN be offensive to someone at any time.
In these pieces as with past threads, I'm far more offended by the pixel techniques (lack thereof) than the subject matter.
If offended, ignore the thread.

why have you chosen pixel art as your medium for these? At this scale I dont really see pixel art as serving much of a purpose because attention is taken off the pixel level, giving you none of the benifits of pixel art, and yet you have to work with all the drawbacks of pixel art. I see this being more suited to digital painting (or anything else).
Your skin tones are boring and need hue shifts, same problem you had with your other peices. Your bricks need variation.

Ok to start off apologies for any offense caused, my purpose here is to improve, not troll or bait. I've never posted my adult stuff in the galleries and I link this site via the front page on my website because pj is the best pixel site online.
Hardcore pixelling and sprites is not quite what I do but MS Paint is the tool I use and I obviously don't use custom brushes.
Ok back on topic. The brick wall is a background image to a webpage we are building and I plan to do another 3/4 bricks so the wall doesn't bore the tits off me.
The 2 saint frames are work in progress which i hope to improve.

I run/own an adult ms paint site but I'm not wanting to start linking that here.

Ive seen your site. Im just wondering why have you chosen MS paint as your medium in the first place?

I ran the memeber area and designed the subpages to a site called electric retard (all mspaint) until we decided to put all that side on its own site.
Electric retard is NOT child or work friendly.

yes, but the question is why you chose to use pixel art as your medium, and not another medium like digital painting, or traditional painting, etc.
The point being made is that the size and amount of pixel-level detail displayed in the pieces might be realized more easily and with better results in a different medium. Pixel art is useful in conveying a lot of information in a small amount of space, and when work is larger, a lot more time must be invested to reduce jaggies/smooth lines/anti-alias/remove banding/etcetcetc. This makes pixel art a tedious medium to use, especially if you aren't reaping the benefits specific to the medium, but you are experiencing the side effects (jaggies etc).
So the question is: why was pixel art chosen as the medium in which to execute your work?

I think pixel art requires a different kind of skill, knowledge and practice than hand drawing medium, lolosaur may have chosen because of his skills fit in better.

I choose pixel/paint art as my medium because I get a greater satisfaction knowing I've mixed every colour of every pixel and placed it with my own hand rather than using custom brushes which always feels like cheating.
MS Paint is a passion and an obssession.
The site we've built is a unique set up, how many other MS Paint adult sites are there (other than mspaintporn which is a craphole). The art is a way of expressing ones darker side, we all have one.
Some pointers on that brick wall would be helpful.

Interesting... I do suppose the pixel medium is good if you enjoy using it, no matter the outcome. However, you should definitely give a shot at using the pixel techniques to better your work. Regardless, you're not bad at all, but you do lack what pixel artists would consider to be the main package.

Sure there was a comment above about pixelling being suited to small sprites and graffix which is a fair point. To fill a site with pixelling at that level would take 2 lifetimes and a lot of free time we don't have.
The finer pixel techniques on things like that brick background are definately what I need.

As an adult and being pretty open minded, I don't have a problem with the content. (Though I understand the concern of Jalonso that some people might) I liked the first one already, but the body of the woman in the second WIP, is just great...I don't care about the size, this looks so damn good.

Thanks a lot for expressing yourself, the pic should self update as I make progress on it.
I'll ask again, if anyone can give me assistance with that brick background I'd be greatful.

I think the bricks just need more variation. That pattern of bumps or whatever on the bricks feels very specific. I would make a brick with just uniform texture on it, and then make a few bricks with unique textures such as the one you already have. I wouldnt repeat the brick you have currently more than a few times. And I would probibly leave most bricks with minimal cracks/bumps on it, since you probibly dont want too much attention going to just bricks.

those fine, raised ridges don't read as a brick texture to me, but more like folds in fabric.

I know, they are a bitch to do. I think maybe I've used to many shades which would blend the tones like a canvas. Stone has harder edges which i need to replicate with a more dynamic shade change.
