This is a multi user tile based world editor I created. I made it using a tile set created by a member here named grave. My idea is to have user register and create a map made up of the tile set of thier choice. You will be able to view other peoples plots and edit your own as much as you like.  Kinda like the whole isometric city idea with a different twist. I'd like to have as many tile sets as possible but i'm a programmer and i'm not to good with pixel art. Anyone who would be interested in contributing to this project would recieve a link located within the tile set they created. This is still in the testing phase so anyone who checks it out if you find any bug please let me know. Thanks for you time. Tile details are below the link to the landscape creator.

**EDIT**
no download made in flash

http://worldgame.kwigbo.com/ - Landscape Creator

Tiles must be 16x16
png or gif format
any colors
indoor and outdoor settings

Well, i haven't downloaded this program yet. About the Chuck's animation i actualli have a tile set, but not complete.. I've made grass, sand, rock, water, road and some few other things.. The only problem is that the tiles are 9x9 pixels =/. You think u could change your program to use the 9x9 tiles? I'd very grateful.

9x9 tiles won't fit in. 16 x 16 is the only size I have it setup to use. I'm not in a hurry I just started on version 2 of the landscape-creator. If you could make your tile set bigger that would be great cause I really like the style of it.

Thanks =D.
I'll try to to make it in 16x16.. but i have a doubt.. Do i have to raise the character's size too?

If you want the character to fit into the world the way it does now it would be best to increase the size on them too.

Hey.. i changed my mind.. I'm sorry, but i can't make 16x16 pixel tiles.. I've made some 9x9 and i don't wanna to throw them away you know
But it still would be great if you could adapt your software to use 9x9 pixels. If you can, awesome, if you can't, no problem.

Why would you have to throw them away?

Actually, i want to make a game... And all my work on the 9x9 tiles would be for nothing you know what i mean? I've made them, i want to use them. =/
But i've seen your program, and i just loved it. it's awesome =D. In future, is it going to be possible to save the maps, withouth the grid?
It would be really great if the program could use 9x9 tiles.. I would be very grateful..

To answer your first question Yes you will be able to save the map without the grid. I am going to add a member gallery so you can view every one elses creation. As for the 9x9 tile I don't think it would be wise to make my game using 9x9 tiles. Thats a very unusual size the standards are 8x8 16x16 and 32x32. The sizes have to be multiples of 8 to fit in. Sorry for the late reply.

This is a neat program. So how do we upload our own tilesets?

Which brings me exactly to the point. If this hasn't got any collaboration stuff, I'll have to move this thread to Diversions.

You need to post the tile set here and I have to put it in manually. I'm working on making it more automated. Sorry I guess I should have been more clear about that.

Sweet. I love tilesets. Count me in for making one.

Couple questions, can I choose the background color and do you allow animation?

EDIT: Crud, I just noticed it has to be PNG. Do you want all the tiles to be seprate or in a sheet?

If you send them in a sheet it will take me longer to put them up cuz i'll have to cut them apart. But you can send them which ever way you want. Actually gif files would be ok to if that's easier. Yes you can have animated tiles too.

Meh, they're nothing special, I'm trying to get a whole set of RPG tiles as fast as I can.

Your usual 13 grass/water tiles, 13 deep water tiles, 13 grass/sand tiles, misc water effects, trees, bushes, cliffs, waterfalls, caves, etc...

All your standard Zelda-ish stuff.

If you wanna send them in one pic you can I can cut it up. Just make sure any animated ones are separate from the sheet.

I can't wait to see what you come up with. I'm gonna have to make the tile choosing area bigger on the game to accomadate so many tiles.

You should allow someone to click and drag to place groups of tiles...

I'm trying to work that in.

If anyone else has any suggestions for features I'm open to hear them and will try to fit as many in as possible.

yeah groups of tiles, like all 3 pieces of the tree at once, however
maxx's tiles may be different, only time will tell.

Posted By: JJ_Maxx

My tree is 32x32, so yeah placing roups of four would be nice. I'm up to around 80+ tiles and that's without the cliff tiles, house tiles, fence, wall or waterfall tiles.

And that's just exterior.

Anyways, here are some suggestions for the program:

Layered Tiles. (Make a sword tile with transparency, and you can place it on top of a grass or sand tile, etc..)

Perhaps a scroll feature for the tile area?

I'll post a small area with my tiles in it so you guys can have a sneek peak.

I have layers in my program. I will add drag and drop function for transparent objects. Scoll feature? for the tile choosing area? If that's what ya meant i'm way ahead of ya.

That's cool I can't wait till it's done. I started work on the drag and drop feature for objects. I am also reorganizing my code so adding new features will be easier.

Alright kwigbo, I could seriously spend months on a full RPG tileset. I forgot how long it takes to make an entire set by hand.

So I'll just hand in this version and if I want to add more tiles and/or animate them, I'll update.

I'll let you cut them out. Or make the program use tilesheets instead of individual tiles.

There's only 102 of them.

Heh, thanks. I'm not 100% happy with them and alot of them really could use an extra 30 min of tweaking. I kinda rushed the sand. But it all fits together and should allow alot of options for landscaping.
