The only thing that I can give you, is my comment about your robot.

I see the key very "diagonal".

Maybe, it looks better like this:

Thanks for the tip!

The right arm doesn't look good to me. feels like it should be positioned more back and up. also, the 'hand'/claw is faced or tilted at a flat side view whereas it should be parallel with the robots direction.    like \ \    (isometric though, obviously) apart from the arm being quite awkward i think the other thing that kills this piece for me is the position and colour of the key.

they key is too bright and on a white background made my eyes completely ignore it. It's too saturated, try a more orangy colour for gold/brass

that being said, it's position is also very awkward sticking up like that whereas it should be coming out of the back (lower down) not the neck. (as already suggested with an edit)

I'll leave it there for now and see what you come up with. when you're done I'll look for anything else that sticks out.

Good luck.

Here's an update of the robot!

Hrmnn.

it's still not how it should be I think.

the dot on the robots 'shoulder' should be more --> that way and have more of an isometric 3/4 view if it's protruding. (if not then it should have some sort of definition like a hole or a groove in the metallic part)

the hand/claw still isn't right , it's definitely an improvement but it isn't isometric. Remember to
follow the isometric angle with everything horizontal.

http://gas13.ru/v3/tutorials/isometric_pixelart_tutorial_mathematics_of_isometrics.php - Here is a tutorial for isometrics in case you're uninitiated and just winging it. Read this from chapter 2 (The mathematics of isometrics) to 4 (throwing shapes).

the key in the back I think is a little better but should still be lower down. it looks like it's coming from the robots left shoulder.

I still don't like the colour of the key. still too saturated and yellow. but it's definitely an improvement over the other yellow.

hope any of this helps.

I couldn't move the dot on his shoulder to much without having to redesign the whole torso but Here's an update anyway:

Use layers in a program such as photoshop or graphics gale (or GIMP or that other free photoshop alternative that i forget its name.. if you can figure out how to use it..)

put the torso on one layer and the arm on another, then you can play with separate parts.

i made a very very sloppy edit to illustrate what i'm talking about.
( <--- Mine   Yours ---> )

looking closely at your piece it's plain to see you have a lot of problems regarding isometrics.

the bottom of the feet for instance don't match the robots torso's angle (note: i didn't actually edit that part i was more focused on the arms and key)

i can tell you're trying to round them out ( i think?) but it looks like they're supposed to be flat and at the same angle..

i did a crummy job on a lot of stuff but it was just to show you what I meant in my previous post.

sadly i had to make this edit with a touch pad which really hindered me doing much to it.

the robots left arm was at a weird angle too. sticking outwards like that, I imagine the robots arms only move up and down really , not in a ball-joint kinda fashion. at least the classic robots have that..

I think you (and i , actually, I'm a little rusty on the mathematics/feel for it) need to practice isometrics. make basic shapes and stack them seamlessly. start with boxes, the most fundamental shape of it all then go on to cones and cylinders etc and stack them seamlessly on top of the boxes.

isometrics are really a science. it's all about the angle of the lines.

Oh as far as the colour of the key, ignore that, i don't suggest you make the key that colour. I saved the GIF in 16 colours. it looked exactly the same (save for the key) so i colour reduced it.

sorry i can't be any more help than that.

I see what you're saying now that you've pointed it out, I've been doing pixels for a while but only just recently have I started isometric and yes it is a science, I'll see what I can do,thanks a lot though, you've been a big help!
