I am amazed by pixel art and have been browsing on this forum for some months now, so I thought I might as well give it a shot. I read cure's tutorial and just started on repainting a photo of some friends in pixel art:

8x size

original size

It's not finished yet, so any advice on the palette, shading or whatever is appreciated

Edit: Added enlarged image

This is an amazing piece for your first try!, The only thing I could say is that I see no direct source of where light is coming from (maybe it's just me) and that maybe having some sort of outline or more contrast to the people and the background would make the Characters pop a bit more. Otherwise I love the piece!

Thanks! I finished it already and posted it in the
http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/66976.htm - gallery .

Got a bit lazy until the end, so I didn't pay much attention to light source and stuff :P I'll try to do better next time ^^

Nice, by the way you can enlarge and reduce images already posted by
left clicking and control+left clicking them. :-D
