Hmmm - doesn't seem to be a lot of scope for improvisation on this one, but i'm sure someone will prove me wrong!

Edit: I'm going to do something based on this!

That is great man but the challenge asks for a human ear. That would be a cool non-challenge entry though ;)

I meant based on that - I was thinking a tiny person cleaning a big person's ear, standing on their shoulder or something

Makes sense now. I was wondering how you made a complete entry so quickly, and so large at that.

Well, I got this ear and I don't know what to do with it.

Well, you could improve it with some AA, or maybe a little story, because it's just an ear, nothing else.

Is something like this (WIP) within the limits of the of the competition?
It does contain ears, one a general ear shape [made of the arms, and the baby], and the other is the ear of the woman.

By the way, where is this image from? I have this horrible feeling that this is a famous work that I'm claiming as my own. I swear I've seen this before!

Yes, there's the problem - there is no idea behind this ear, and by now I don't know how to bring it to life.

I've illustrated a common Russian saying "В одно ухо влетело, в другое вылетело". But the result looks... Um... Kinda weird.

I've made a few changes, now it looks more of a human:

the direction of the wordflow is odd, since english is read left to right. also 'the other' works better than 'another' imo, as it implies there are two related ears rather than it flew into my ear and out of some other ear somewhere in the world.

@AG182: funny, nice idea!
Maybe the following to ease the reading:
  1. text enters left (right to us) ear, other empty
  2. eyes roll from left to right
  3. text exits from right ear, other empty
  4. eyes roll from right to left and loop
@cure: isn't it normal that the text scrolls from right to left then?

Yeah, I was thinking about the direction of the flow, but if it was left to right, well... What would I do with the letters order? Wouldn't it be backwards?

@baah I was thinking about it, but this never ending text flow gives it some hypnotic, sick (lol) touch, I guess. Still, I'll consider this.

@cure As far as I am not a native speaker, I was trying to remember the difference between "the other" and "another" and, well... I guess I failed :D

Well, I have this WIP inspired by Reservoir Dogs, and I don't know how to improve it.

I thought of an ear-hunter barbarian.
Early WIP:

Well, ears are not there yet, he will collect them on his collar

Instead of just his collar, put them on his belt as well. Remember, the focus must be ear.

Nice palette though. Very dynamic.

Yeah, right, I think that's the problem right now.

Here's an Idea! Instead of just a collar, have his this guy the a huge elf or something on his back, as if he's a monster slayer, and his trophies are the ears that he collects from their dead bodies. He could be taking one home right now! What do you think?

Posted By: Trick17

Not bad, but I think this will head the attention to the hunting of elves rather then to the hunting of ears. I Really would to it if the main subject had not been ears, because I like the idea. However, I tried to put the focus on the ear by changing the composition:

@AG182: you seem very inspired!... Did you drop the scrolltext idea, i like it very much!
@Super17: your use of colors is awesome! o_O
(The ear is somewhat tint, why not hunting elephants' ears?)

Well, the challenge rules say that it has to be an human ear :(

Last minute entry! Thought the idea was cool. If I would have had time I would have given her an earring or some kind of decoration, but I didn't so I didn't.
