@philippejugnet: Such a Glassball can be tricky if you consider the reflection and/or the distortion for the scene inside.

@a3um: You seem to have some time or you are very quick Your WIP always look really great.

@Super17 - thanks. It's holidays and I caught a cold so I have some free time. Plus, I bought myself a tablet:) Also, this sphere looks more like a chromium-plated metal rather than glass

Supert 17 - yeah thanks =) Gecimen, just so I know the shape yay cause its not reflecting its inside so its probably the same shape.

@Gecimen - I used a tablet only once. Mouse is my ultimate pixeling weapon:)

http://www.pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=11870 - this challenge already had the 'Hand with Reflecting Sphere' idea. It got first place =].

Oh, I don't want to misdirect you Philippe, Escher's drawing is clearly a chrome orb and not made of glass like a3um said, just want to show that you could adjust the perspective of the scene inside the orb to the shape of it. But looks like you took it right, just want to be sure ;)

That's a first quick draft, but I changed his pose a few times and I'll stick to that I think. Might fool around with the lightning, I want some atmosphere but nothing too contrasted, more melancholic than dramatic. Not sure what'll put in his snowglobe collection. Either small figures, playing with the scale, some painting references or some small landscape, maybe some iso stuff ?
EDIT: btw Adcrusher I know you said you're just testing color and may be well aware of drawing issues but just in case: before you go further, you might want to fix that right arm, it feels odd. The arm itself is ok but seems to be attached to the body too low and somehow a bit on the front. May be a matter of perspective but I do think something's weird.

Mille you are right! I didn't even notice but now that you say it I can see it. Thanks! Loving the green on yours by the way. Your pallet is looking great.

I think you should check that tower's perspective, philippe(at least the pilars surrounding it). It differs from the orb's and terrain.

Hand tower and sky are all aligned perfectly, which imo makes a boring composition. Try throwing the tower to the side, make the main focus the hand and the tower in the background
(ignore the yellow on the clouds i was screwing around :P)

Is this straying too far from the spirit of the challenge? I really wanted to do something with stained glass when I read the guidelines for this week...
It's Isis, an Egyptian goddess. I thought, "What do you most often see in stained glass art?" Religious depictions such as stained glass installations in churches are the most obvious answer. I wanted to try a stained glass portrayal of a non-Christian deity.

love it jellybeanfish!
It might be cool to have really intense light shining through certain parts of the glass to make it look less flat and uniform. Maybe the light could even improve the composition, such as the red circle at the top being really bright

jellybeanfish: stained glass is fine. You could do like Frost Butt suggested, and/or show some kind of glaze effect.

need to change the character, this guy is trash. Anatomy is wonky and his character is boring. Those wings are really giving me trouble I began to shade them like dragon wings but then I got a reference but they look unattached.

I don't think iso stuff would really fit perspective and context of your piece.
In the snowglobes I imagine some small animals, kept in life by the same system as the character but in smaller scale but I don't think it fits your original idea.

Thank you, and thanks very much for the suggestion! :) I tried what you said, and boy, stained glass texture is hard. I can't tell if I managed to achieve my goal or make it look like a pizza:
I also altered it somewhat to make the green more dominant for increased color unity, in addition to a few other tweaks.

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it'd be alright! Honestly, I'm not sure how to go about achieving the glaze look

Amazing! Why don't you make the reflection bigger??

thanks! I was thinking about it, but that reflection is so difficult haha... #_# honestly at this point I'm not sure I'm going to find the effort to work on it more before the challenge is over so I guess I'll submit it as is before I inevitably forget to. Thanks a lot for the suggestion though, I appreciate it!
rodrigo, I love the idea and how it's coming out! Their expressions are amazing. It's hard to tell at this point when it's a WIP but the shading on the wood floor seems overly bright - 3 shades including a rather dark color compared to the shading on the bird, which is only 2 shades over a flat area. I really like the style of shading on the bird, so I would maybe try to tone down the color contrast on the wood boards (maybe less dithering, even?) or even reduce it to 2 colors. But, that's kind of nitpicky, and it doesn't stand out too much. Don't forget to be mindful of the shadows the objects (bird, pig, glass, etc) will cast on the floor :)

@jellybeanfish
Thanks for the tip!
You are right and... I didnt like the wood too much, neither the bg, I was thinking about put grass instead of wood and use a yellow-ish background. What you think?
If I end using the wood, it will have less contrast, and some shadows, certainly.

Updated!

Finished the bird and the pig... Changed the wood to look more rocky =P
Nah, still dont like this, should be the dithering like jellybeanfishsaid

@FrostPumpkin: thanks ! Well the idea with iso would be to have something very different, that precisely don't fit the rest of the scene, but turns out it's a bit small for readable iso stuff. Your idea with the animals is nice but I decided to go for really mundane, everyday life things in the snowglobes, to have some opposition and an idea of this guy missing a former life... anyway I'm done working on it, might use some polishing but the clock is ticking and my bed is calling... so it's updated in the gallery.

I call it finished: http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/70172.htm

Yes, I used that same wood, event with its problems... I have no nome time to work on this piece.
Hope you like anyway =]
