I need some advice regarding this wip. I've had some problems in the white trail, not sure what to do here and what would look better. I'm not planning to use more than 1 single color for this trail, yet I want it to have some depth (since it's definitely needed here). Any ideas?

if the shapes get bigger towards the ship, it will give it depth maybe?
I would use more than one color though.

the ship looks really good though, the planet looks a little flat though

the depth can be handled fairly easily from the elements you already have. you just need to make them "cross". I would also angle the jupiter planet slightly to add it bit more "movement" and in doing so all of its bands now lead the eye in from the edge of the art directly to the focal object. I would however agree that the planet needs some "spherical" shading to get the most from it.

doing you "swoosh" in a single colour may well be next to impossible. However it can be done reasonably well with a very limited palette like this  commodore 64 image:

hope some of this helps,
Steve

You seem to go for the decomposing into small drawings, stars and the such, which are as of now near impossible to see, You could use fewer of them so we'd actually see them, and go for something highly stylised. Or go for a very graphic full white trail with no detail ?
Apart from these solutions, you basically have to add color I'd say.

Une signature? Comme Zorro ou Batman?

The planet looks a bit flat, maybe try something like http://www.hucverlin.de/linard/bilder/Planeten-txtpic/jupiter.jpg - this .
