Hello guys, I am making a spaceship as a second test for myself. Please tell me what you think of it and how I can improve it. I am using Gimp 2.8 to make it. As you can see it has a lot of gradients, but they are al handmade by myself and not using the gradient tool. Also, I am kind of stuck with designing the lower middle part. Hello.
I notice you have a lot of gradients going on which is very counter-intuitive despite many popular beliefs. You first want to work on the overall design and design the ship in parts such as the engine/turrets/cockpit etc. If you want this to look realistic, make sure these parts are designed to at least look like they have a practical function. Block out basic shapes and try not to use too many colours. EDIT: Quick sketch of what I'm talking about.
