say, a character wearing a denim jeans while sporting an ancient roman toga with golden laurel leaves and a funky eyeglasses and an afro/mohawk hairdo.. does that count?

do you mean that the character is from a different era, and the clothes are from other era?

Well I don't know how you could see jeans if they were wearing a proper toga... but yes, I think that fits.

I suspect its a no, but can we use fictional time periods or sci fi fashion? For example Romans in space or star trek uniforms in tudor England? Either way sounds like a good challenge

Can the time period be one of our own invention, such as an interpretation of futuristic fashion?

That would be a medieval Japanese astronaut, I guess. No idea if this is even playing by the rules ;/

hello! does the character need to show its full form (read: whole body)?or could it be done like Mrmo Tarius' piece?
still baffled...:(

Here are the basic rules for any confusion :

choose 2 separate time periods (fictional or real) The skies the limit!

take different traits from each of them

combined them into one character!

And no it doesn't have to be a full body, as long as you include the two periods

Mrmo Tarius has the idea: he took "medieval Japan" and an "astronaut/modern" and put them together!

Like the example I had: Egyptian cowboy-- "Ancient Egypt" and "old West"
I guess technically it could also be a Western Pharaoh. It's all how you want to look at it and interpret it! PM me if you have anymore questions and good luck!

started working on this tonight, probably won't add a background since I started quite late.
it's a medieval stoner metalhead if that wasn't obvious.

Hey guys nice job on your work. I'm entering the contest as well although I think it is a little late for feedback. Either way this is it.

This is a cross between the 1930's speakeasy gangster with silk coat, hat, cuffs, etc. and a fantasy rendition of Alphonse Mucha's Neo-Classical dresses with an art nouveau flair. The gunmetal background is also a hybrid of this idea.

This is my first real attempt to do something in the pixel art way, so if anyone has some constructive criticism I would be happy to hear it.

If only there were more time, I'd totally be drawing cavemen strutting down runways right now.
