CHALLENGE: Helio-Monster

Pixel an original monster that lives on the surface of the sun.

Your image needs to use this colour - #FF6600:



Canvas Size - Max 100 x 100.
Colours - Max 16. Must include #FF6600.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - Optional.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp - submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8 - WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

It is a sort of dinosaur, I want to add some ridges and/or some wings. Anyway the violet line rappresents an hypothetic horizon. I'm not sure I'll make a BG.

Since it is the sun, and there is no real surface to walk on, I went with a fishy creature made of fire.

The fin animation is done, I plan on animating the side arms and doing a trail of flame (tricky part )

you plan on making that bigger? you have 10,000 (100 x 100) pixels to work with.

Maybe.
100x100 is the max, but it can be smaller right?
If I finish the fish just the way I like it I can work on some background and ambiance stuff.

So far making the cosmos in the back ground has been the most chalenging part. But I think I'll be able to make it look awesome.

Some progress with the fire.
I have moved those pixels around for so long now to make up for the fact that the fish is moving. Also the top of the fish is a bit too static, need to fix that.




@curvedlines : wow dude, that looks fantastic!


update: Used the whole 100x100 pixels in the end, but I think it just ended up adding too much noise and taking away from the original, but oh well, all in good practice.

5 quick ideas O: any good? started a bit late, just noticed the challenge, intended to enter last weeks too but didn't find time._.



Edit: DAMMIT just lost alot of challenge related pixels program crashed, only like the 2nd or 3rd time this year
http://i.imgur.com/jll8A.png < is what I was working on, some whale like creatures and phoenix like flame birds coming out of the surface of the sun, didn't save them once before that crash I was cropping the canvas down to 100x80 when it crashed :/
