Very nice Reo, but it looks like your wizard is caught in the canvas, maybe cut the hat rather then the beard and add an item that goes outside the canvas. |

I chose to draw the wizard and loosely base it off Peter Jackson's interpretation of Gandalf. Obviously, this is still a work-in-progress. |

 My wip, I figured I'd do a young female wizard, to oppose all the old grumpy wizards upcoming. EDIT:  I'm pretty much stuck on the body, I hate the shading there but I have no idea how to do it better. |

The rules say "pick one of the options below", I don't think we should take them that strictly however. About my wip:  I'm quite happy with the shading on the body now. |

(by the way, your moon looks awesome!) - tweaked the cats eye balls, to give him more of that creepy/magical kind of black cat look. :p - i couldn't quite figure out what the cat was sitting on, it sort of looked like a hill. so just put him on a fence. -- i continued the stars till the horizon, i think it fills the sky this way. it just seemed a little empty right around the middle of the image. ------------- |

I like your edits, however, they make it less portraitish in my opinion. And the challenge says that you have to make a portrait. I'm a bit in doubt now ._. |

UPDATE:
Here's an update, decided to lose the shirt, added more detail and tweaked the color a bit. Now just working on finishing it up! Also need to think of a background 
EDIT: I'm calling it done! unless anyone else has suggestions/critic!

| @Gogglecrab, I think that a bit more contrast between shades would do your piece wonders, for one thing. Can't confirm this with an edit right now (on the iDevice) but perhaps make the highlights a bit brighter and the shadows a bit darker? Also, hue shifting more away from orangey colors in the shadows would add more interestingness (if that's a word) to it. |

Might finish both. Need to add some colors to the robot. I know the Vamp needs work. Wanted a 13th color for the Vamp background but will have to use one of those 12. |

Started inking my ninja, but I noticed that most of the portraits are head-and-shoulders busts, did I screw up? should I try to make it bigger and just focused on the face, or you think this is fine?

@FlyGuy: Haha, was thinking the same thing. Anyone can just pick which one you drew. By being a vampire, you don't stop being a wizard. A Robot would be trickier tho, maybe if he was a cyborg. |

Its really embarrassing that this is becoming such a big issue. It seems to be out of spite. I am well within the guidelines of this competition, and in my interpretation of a wizard there just so happens to be aspects that appear similar to the other characters..Was this intentional, of course, I wont lie..But does this automatically NOT make it a wizard? I'm SOOOO late on this, but this is what I got so far... It's supposed be a ninja that's cloaked, thus refracting the light around his face but revealing his eyes. It's hard to make the glass shading right, though. Any help here? |

In and of itself it looks good, though I don't feel the shading on the right really adds anything as far as stylization. The two halves are so different I could see it being interpreted as half-ninja, half-evil robot, and based on what's transpired before, combos would be against the rules. If you had just posted the symmetrical versions, I would have never guessed they started off combined. The one on the left looks like a ninja, while the one on the right could maybe be a dark wizard. With some asymmetry added in, I think you could post either one of the bottom two. Nice to see you on here, by the way. ;) |

Last update: Thanks for the feedback, Jim! I did reach at one point but I think it's down to 12 again now. I like the way you did the hair for your wizard: simple yet effective. I think you can make the background say more about the character, though. |

Um... my evil robot isn't in the Weekly Challenge list and I can't put it in for some reason. Can a moderator fix that quickly please?  ->Gamamoto: The biggest issue I have with your piece is in regards of the beard's shading. I think you can go for something simpler and less noisy, like the the technique Jim16 used for his wizard. The second thing that's restricting you is your palette: I'd suggest you make some colours less saturated and in between primary colours, like for example a desaturated orange. Think about your colour ramps: what colour is what? what kind of light is there in the scene? etc. I started an edit:  Hope it helps. |
