This will be my first work after reading tutorials seriously. So, throw stones at me now! It's a big headed knight... Nothing more to it. For Now. Any suggestions on:
- Color choice - Redrawing - Shading
....are welcome!
Here goes our fatboy (inspired by a LEATH'S HARRY POTTER character which is infinitely better than that)

for a start ther are hardly any colors so i dont see how u can
comment on that.
as for redrawing, i think its not bad, maybe a bigger sword. But what
is the point in a wip if you are gonan redraw it. one lesson i have
learnt is the crappest lineart will look good if the pallette and shading
is right.
shading, please do more so we can comment.
------------- Snark, we love yuu.

I was just thinking about a suggestion on color-use. But maybe it's not the moment for that yet, since I'm mostly working on the lineart.
Jalonso's "YES, REDRAW IT PLEASE" was too vague for me to work on anything. But I'll try to improve it in some way...
Tomorrow I'll submit a more complete work!

I'll try again, this time the longer version.
Hassh you seem to be into pixelart and your desire to learn and read
tutorials seriously will pay off for you. Confidence may be you
stumbling block. Work on developing your art, your style at your own
pace. Someday you will be calling people n00bs too. Do you think Shark
has always been a hunter? Oh, no he too was a n00b.
- Color choice - This is very difficult and only you will know what is
best. If you are attempting to have a mean and nasty knight, perhars
rusty colors are best. If he is your knight in shining armor then
bright shiny blue grays will work. If its total fantasy and goofy why
not plaid or polka dots. See where I'm going?
- Redrawing - Hassh, I did not mean to be vague. Usually when an artist
says anything relating to redrawing, it usually means there is some
aspect that YOU are not happy with but can't determine. By saying "yes
please" I was merely encouraging your creative juices to find that
which will please you. Your art only needs to please you, pleasing
others is a bonus.
These two items only you can determine, look around the web or books,
for inspiration then try them out in different ways, something WILL
come up. Once you get to those two down and you are pleased try to
shade it...
- Shading - experiment on developing your shading techniques and when
stuck post them here for help, and you will be helped. The problem here
is that you are at the step before WIP.
Now I would like to thank you for giving me the opportunity to subtly call Shark a n00b without stirring the waters

Thanks for the comments, everyone... So, here's how our fat knight is turning:

I'm not sure about the colors in his armor. The shield looks OK. So does the sword (I tried to make a FROSTBRAND of some sort). I still have to work a little on the outline colors and *MAYBE* I''ll add a blue flame to the sword.
That's all about it. Note that I made his head look like a trash can on purpose!

Reminds me of Ned Kelly with the bucket helm. (for all of you that aren't of Austrailian decent, he was an outlaw who made himself a suit of armor to protect himself from bullets shot by the law. he had a helmet just like that. it worked pretty well until he was shot in the knee caps. that stoped him very quickly.)
Back on topic:
he doesn't seem to have much of a torso there... I would have angled the shield a little more and fixed his stance to a more low to the ground, like with his knees bent, so that he would be more protected by his shield and more ready for an attack. But that is just me... Love the sword.
yeah... keep it up

I jut think some of the lines are misleading: -The dark line below the helmet, the one that touches the shoulder pad, makes it looks as though that the shoulder pad is lying below, if not inside, the helmet. But that could be due to the irregular shape of the shoulder pad.
-The position of his shield looks unconfortable, because we can only see one side of the trim. I know, he is supposed to be protecting his front, but something doesnt seem right, maybe we are supposed to see hit elbow, or a bit of the curvature from the shield on top (since its slightly top view).
-The sword is not symmetric. The handler protector has a 45° inclination, so everything from one side of the blade should be reflected in that same inclination.
-The shape of the shoulder pad is a bit weird. Maybe there should be a concavity where the arm meets it, or maybe a trim to better defined the curves and perspective.
The color choices are a bit tricky, because it totally up to you. As Jalonso said, it depends on what you want your final piece to look like. If you want something cartony, what you did is great. If you want more realism, youd have to recheck your shadow, highlights, refractions, and light source(s). Also could pick more desaturated colors for some parts like the sword and shield. Right now, I think the whole soldier works very nicely with these colors.
The bottom line is that only you will have the ultimate ninja power to tell if that is what you were planning or not. =)
Overall, you did a very nice job. I love how his mask turnt out haha, funny eyes!

Some changes I made to it....

A) The original drawing, as seen above.
B) Original Drawing with black outline, minus funky eyes.
C) With no colors, pretty obvious...
D) Less "round'n'goofy" looking shield. I also changed his sword, making it bigger (although I don't really think it's symetrical! ), brand new shoulder pad, a torso, a belt and a curved leg.
E) And the sword said "AGHHHHHHHHHHHH I'M ON FIRE!!!"
F) Different stance. He's fencing! I definetly like that one but I don't know if I'll pick it.
G) Broad sword with a cape. New shoulder pads. his helmet is more proportional, so are his boots.
H) Made a morning star instead of a sword and revealed his Identity! It's my old pal TUTU in shiny armor!!! ... Just goofing around on that one... had no more Ideas for today!

I think E is the best. The flame effect is great. My only crit--the shield looks like belly armor.

It was like this.....

It became this:

I changed the whole pallette. I'm going to finish his sword, shield and fix his shoulder pad (looks crooked). Also, I'll work on some minor outline detail.
It's my first work in which I tried to make this "CAPCOM-LIKE OUTLINE", so I hope I didn't make that many mistakes.....
