CHALLENGE: Cyantific

../../../../p/23265.htm - Manupix challenges you to create an image featuring http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Laboratory_equipment - laboratory equipment (eg. beaker, bunsen burner, petri dish, etc...) using all the cyans shown below.

Canvas Size - Max 150 x 250. Either horizontal or vertical.
Colours - Unrestricted, but must at include all 6 of the colours in the palette below:

Transparency - No.
Animation - Optional.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

This is what I've got so far. Does the vial need to be more prominent to make it a valid entry?



@Bokeblender, The ceiling lamp is on the right side of the the tank, however the light source seems to be coming from the left.
Unless that bright blue is something inside the tank? I'm sorry if I'm mistaken.

I always love your work, the colours and the style are what got me into trying pixel art again, but I feel this piece is a bit uninspired compared to your usual ones. That said, I love the contrast in colours. :)

I like the content of the tank, but I do not really like the rest.

And I don't know if it's on purpose but the big monster is not very visible. (sorry my english sux when I want to be accurate)

it's a test-tube with the liquid being evaporated by the flame, ik the bubbles seems like gems but i'm not editing it anymore.

Actually, the test tube doesn't look that much like glass either. Since you're not changing it, there's no need in saying this, but if the bubbles were smaller, instead of enveloping the top of test tube, it would come off more as a test tube over a flame.

I've had mine in the queue since tuesday, but it still hasn't been approved. I'm afraid it won't get entered into the contest on time. What should I do?

Work on it some more!
Currently your piece, boke, feels like a compilation of images. Yes the stuff has a theme, but its not working well together. The BG which is real dark has a sudden eye on it. Both the ceiling light and the eye are kinda adding noise. You see, your piece is interesting, but the eye and lamp are trying to steal my attention. Personally I would scrap them. I suggest you do so.
Other things: The lava lamp gets cut off on the left side. The character looks like that one muppet guy, Bunsen? The bottom half of the guy looks like a mess.I think if you removed the black line going from his waist to his feet it would help.
But who knows, it might get into the gallery overnight or tommorow, but I think if you spent a tad more time fixing the current errors/odd things it may seriously up your chances.
