SORRY I HAD TO REMAKE THE BASE SO IT TILED!!!! See the new template.

Ok here is my idea for a new collab:
This will be a challange to make a tyleset a the specified theme.

Here are the choice themes Desert, Woods, Lake, Beach, Volcano, Coral Reef

1. Must use the template for the base tiles.
2. Must be organic! Maybe have things like trees, dirt, plants, maybe some fish and such...(all in your style, cartoon or real)
3. Try not to make too many of one type.(don't make a new tile for every square)
4. Please submit the unassembled tiles and the final scene. (they can be on the same page if you wish.)

ADD FEATURES THAT ARE UNIQUE make your landscape stand out!

Maybe in the end they might be connected i dunno...

Give your tiles some height if you want they don't need to be 2 demisional.

I will try to contrast the simularities of organic things and mathmatical functions in my set.

1 must be isometric tile size 32x16. That forms the proper angle
2 must have grass tiles and water tiles and others of your choice
even for the desert and volcano?

where's the 3

4 your tile space is 8x8 tiles but vertically as high as you want!
5 must be organic trees dirt plants, maybe some fish and such...
do u mean realistic?
6 try not to make too many of one type(don't make a new tile for every square)

Ok you bring up some good points. I typed this when I was tired (I cashier at wal*mart). I'll edit the rules to make more sence!

Here is a taste of my wip in progress for this thread. It will be finished and polished soon. I hope this kicks all yalls into gear! ( I still need some height to it!)

Well option 2 would be ideal I think.

i started something similar to this with somebody interested in learning how to pixel.  Its actually more like the take-turns-grid collab thing, but in iso view...

Yes it provides some god height demonstration. Just remember that the template is different now. It didn't tile before. Also adding some slops in there might help add more depth and realism too. (But I realize that's not a piece for this thread)

Yeaah, I'm more interested in indigo's template :P

SO, I'm gonna add a cube, just for practice's sake. And not submit anything back until.... the end of the world.

You are misunderstanding the whole thing. His idea is just like mine, USE 3D BLOCKS. design your own height. The template is just for the BASE.  I just didn't make any height tiles for my map yet.

so we all make our own map, i think it would be more fun to work on
one together.

I just want to see individual styles/colors.

If you must do one with another person, fine. No more than 2 people please.

That way there is no claiming and waiting, this is to be more of an individual thing. Instead of one tile you do your own mini world. We can connect them if you want later.

Please try to understand, the tile by tile thing has been to death I think.
I want people to choose their own colors and not rely on the colors/styles of others.

Isn't that fun tho? working with other people learning from their
pallettes. working on limitations. i like working to others styles, it
helps me learn.

also making a whole mini world would take ages.

seems like its okay if this is open community - just dont expect me to organise it.  I might add a few more blocks myself later.  also feel free to draw sprites and trees and junk on top of the tiles to make it more interesting

Really I just don't want to come across as an arrogant jack ass.
