i think the axe lookt pretty blunt, maybe a highlight on the edge would help. and the moon on the banner seems out of perspective.

and lastly, by adding the axe you made the thing slightly unbalanced(tipping over forwards)

hmm - i think he was out of balance till i added the axe plus his
stance should be kinda dynamic... i probably work on it

i like the worn look of the axe but i will play around with some highlights.

The shadow could use some work.
I like the axe alot more then the sword.

I agree with snader, the moon does look strange.
