Here's my WIP with the palette included:
Yeah, I know the palette shouldn't be in the image, but since I'm using a program that supports layers and the light bulb (as well as the palette) is on a separate layer, it should be pretty easy to remove the palette later. Also, this is actually step 2; I also have step 1 but I posted it on a different site.
Any feedback or advice is appreciated :)
EDIT: ...Darn. I forgot about adding still life >_>
EDIT2: WIP 2:
I'll get to shading the bowl and the table later on, but for now, I'd like some advice/feedback on the current WIP image.

* Make that yellow ramp orangier to reflect the purple BG.
* Dithering is not the best coloring option.

I agree with jalonso. Dithering should really be saved until the end though if it is used. In the case you decide to change something, youre less likely to want to do so if you just spent an hour dithering that thing. Try blocking your whole scene in first. Establish the contrast you want. Then decide if you want to add dithering.
the shape of everything look fine. You just need to roughly establish the lighting at this point. Then I think we could critique it better. I would try to make the gray ramp more interesting.

Hey I made this in about an hour, 100x100 with 19 colors, I guess it's pretty much at a completed stage but it would be nice to get some criticism to do a bit of final polish before submitting =)

(normal zoom and x3 zoom btw)

Ok is it inspired from fairies in Zelda or Lums in Rayman?

I'm guessing from the "Hey! Listen!!" (in nevercreature's first post), it is from the LoZ.
Sidenote- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=duRO3noyAKU
And Nevercreature, that is looking pretty wicked. Can't wait to fav it!

Why not?
Because it is not a 'still' life.. Very pretty though!

But the fire on a candle is also moving...

Thinking about it, still life must depict inanimate things (so even if the fire moves, it's still an inanimate thing).
However considering this is a thematic still life (LoZ), I find the addition of the fairy an original way to depict a light source. The piece is also awesome and shows a lot of skill, I'd love to see it pass :p.

Some examples on the Wikipedia are shown with animated characters.

Playing with the most puke-worthy combination of colours from my pallet. Very roughly drawn so far obviously - but this is of my bedroom. The TV is the lightsource. I probably won't finish this but oh well. Oh and I sketched this with pencil first.

@ultimaodin- Not a huge fan of the dithering on the wall. Also, I don't know what that thing on the floor/ on the window are.
It has a pretty surreal feeling, even though its a still-life. Most of the colors are ok, except the grey. It feels weird in that green ramp.

Guess it's ok then. I read the Wiki entry wrong, the presence of only inanimate things isn't a must (only that it's common)

What game can this be from!?
*sarcasm* (for those who didn't detect it even though it is quite hard to detect sarcasm when writing like this)

EDIT:
Can I get it done!? > unlikely...

I don't understand - just two apples (or other fruits), banana and a candle, I thought it's easy to see
Can somebody tell me how to make it better (easier to understand?) ?

@rafal345 - Use a different colour on the fruit to the BG. I was seeing only the shapes of the stuff that wasn't purple so it took me forever to notice the fruit. It might just be because I'm really tired.

helluva pineapple. rendered well. my only gripe would be, its kind of a cop out to have an equal 3 way light source. because then you dont have to render the lighting on the object, just an evenly light object that happens to have 3 lights on it. IMO thats why i wouldnt vote for your entry, despite it being a great pineapple, it does not embody the "spirit" of the challenge.
