I hate to see a piece slip off the front page without a single comment. the dragon is looking nice, but I think you jumped into detail too early. you first need to establish the forms by working on shading/contrast, then lay the pattern on top of that, varying the brightness of the pattern in accordance with the area beneath it. Right now the pattern is dominating and flattening the dragon, and you're losing sight of the major forms. a darker color or two could really help details of the face pop.

I actually didn't see this. (stuff knows how, anything with dragons I tend to love).
I have to agree with cure - it's better to block out the colours first then detail. Make certain to always consider your light-source. Scales and such (texturing) is something you leave for last.
