Heyo! I'm a relatively new pixel-artist and I was hoping for some C&C on my first projects where I'm actively trying to improve my skill.

Sprites posted with and without transparent background.

Protaganist Genericus, often found in caves with no memory and/or possessing of plot important powers.
Colors: 12
Dimensions: 24x60

Specific Concerns:
  • Not sure if the anti-aliasing is working out
  • The dark part on the hand and wrist is supposed to be a marking similar to a tattoo, I'm unsure if this is clear or if it just looks out-of-place pixels.
  • The garment is supposed to be a simple robe with the left sleeve torn off, but as is I think it looks almost like a skin-tight suit of some sort.

Portrait:

Colors: 15
Dimensions: 48x48

Specific Concerns:
  • I can't quite get the bottom of the hair on the left side to look right, its supposed to look like it hasn't been cut in a long time, but not ragged. I'm not sure, but I think the anti-aliasing applied makes it look fuzzy and out of focus instead of clearing it up.

A loyal knight with a terribly impractical helmet that has no eye-holes. Probably sees with magic or something like that.
Currently does not possess a weapon.
Colors: 8 (Made with DB's 32 color palette)
Dimensions: 24x60

Specific Concerns:
  • Can't quite get the helmet to look right, it's supposed to be a solid piece of metal covering everything above and including the nose.

Any and all C&C is greatly appreciated. Criticism most especially, I'm trying to improve here! Compliments are also nice though.

I'm new myself, so I'll try and help where I can; and of course, take what I say with a grain of salt! :p

First and second image; why are you trying to anti-alias? Sprites look good on top of sprites, its not really needed, and wouldn't really work if you're doing this for a game, since the backgrounds will be different (hence requiring different colours for the anti-alias). Plus I'll say you got your shading too slight, and the tattoo mark too contrasting.
