CHALLENGE: Insert Coin

Create the death animation of a sprite. It can be an original design or an already existing character. Needless to say, it should all be pixeled by yourself - no rips or edits of existing sprites.

Canvas Size - Max 64 x 64.
Colours - Max 17.
Transparency - Required.
Animation - Required.


CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

An idea,

Things I need to fix, is the thickness of the nine for one. Also changing colors, but this is only an WIP.

The idea is about a ball of a mysterious goop that bounces and it is alive. It will have a face and it will be crying in this animation.

The way he's moving around seems kind of comical to me, so if you made him spin around and stumble a lot before finally falling down might take the animation further. (For example, if his arms are flailing down by his sides like heavy noodles.)

What great timing! I have to do a death animation for my game anyway!

This is for when he gets crushed by a box, still needs smoothed out a little bit.

edit: oh wait i read the description wrong, by already existing character it means design not the actual pixels... I thought it seemed weird that it allowed you to use something made before the challenge... Oh well

@Adcrusher, Lets have the challenge manager of the week verify your point because I read it that in the case you show it would be allowed as the challenge is the death frames and you are making those from scratch from 'an already existing' sprite.

Well that's answers that.
Concentrate on the death animation frames and FX and make a 'dummy' sprite of similar shape to your project then after the challenge use it to complete the bot death ani. Killing 2 birds with one stone ;)

Poor boy.
Looks like you have no place for blood color in your palette. I'd suggest you to reduce number of colors before animating it.

Heh, I don't plan any blood and I need lots of colors to achieve what I want.

When the skull starts to fly up, it seems strange. I think you should make the skull fly up higher and quicker (especially at the end, it's rotating much slower than at the beginning). I guess the pacing is weirdish now, so when it first started to fly up, it's like: "What's going on...? Oh, it's flying up."

Other than that, I like the concept and shading.

Tried to fix head flying issue.
Also added more inbetweens. I am kinda satisfied with the animation as it is now. Now to polish every single frame.

Added some special effects:

I want to add more butterflies and maybe tropical birds.
I have 3 more colors to apply some lighting inside the skull.

but maybe i will stick to simple animation - without rainbows etc.

I like the version with the rainbows. It seems really unique like that.

This is my first post in this forum.

This is a death animation from the new game we are making, http://coffeepoweredmachine.com/ - OKHLOS .

It's about an angry mob in the ancient greece, fighting against mythological monsters and making some mess. You will have a lot of mythological heroes in your mob.

This is Leonidas, from the game.
