so I'm not very good at making palettes or picking colours, so I've been using a lot of pre-made palettes. For this I used the 8-bit palette.
I've been working on this for a few days or so and I want to hear your feedback. I'm also pretty proud of the warrior design

Using pre-made or other's palette as you learn is just fine.
Your sprites are nice.
Your big problem here is scale and overall proportions. The windows are far too high and the curve could be better. The clouds read too small. The GUI is far too big.

I think the critique about the scale of things sounds more like a personal opinion. To me, the scale looks fine. What could be improved is the readability of things so that characters stand out as characters, and gui as gui.. At the moment your most contrasty details are the pillars, which forces your eyes to get caught within those harsh transitions (the black and white).
To fix this, I would tone down the contrast on the pillars and find a way to make the characters contrast with the background, and the same for the gui.. A little bit of black around the edges of them might be enough,.. experiment with it.
