This is a new avatar i am working on (since the first one i made was to big). It is a Dutch farmer on wooden shoes, i think i will animate it and make him do a little dance or something. comments please

That's a nice character! I would however put the light source not directly in front of him. Put it somewhere else to create some shadows. That will add to the dynamics of this piece (now I don't know if I translated this right in my head but I hope it will make sense nevertheless :) )

hey I put the lightsource in the front and mine look okay (or do they?)

It's true that the character would look more dynamic when the light source isn't in front of the character, but it will be a lot more work since i can't mirror the character.
I guess i'm just lazy .

Oh but you could let the light come frome slightly above or below. Your light is now a diffuse ambient light(coming from everywhere) casting no shadows or even creating distinctive dark areas (that's btw what I meant pixelblink, your's do have dark parts mostly). I guess it's the same as with b/w photgraphy.
Ok when I do my next sprite it's your turn to punch it
