CHALLENGE: Ace of Base

Create a sprite base and at least 4 different versions with costume/hair/feature/equipment variants (for a total of 5 sprites). The base doesn't have to be human and/or anything conventional.

Canvas Size - Unrestricted.
Colours - Max 32.
Transparency - Required.
Animation - No.

CHALLENGE RULES

Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
Only new pixels allowed.
Open to all members.
Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
No matter what happens you get challenged :)

Can someone help me? I'm trying to create a Robin Williams base but after staring at this for so long I can no longer tell whether I'm making it look more, or less like him. Also I think my lack of proper shading skills is showing.

The hair is just a stand-in, I've exclusively been working on the face.

@MtL: part of the point of the challenge is to be challenged, you should totally give it a shot!

Looking good so far, Showtime. For me, the second one bears his likeness a little bit more. Can't wait to see the Jumanji and Mrs. Doubtfire costumes!
And drawing man, that's looking pretty fine :p

Thank you for the tips! Much appreciated.

Ended up making his chin bigger. The reason it was so small before was because I was trying to accentuate the size of the forehead, but I think he looks a bit healthier this way.

The one to the right is a very miniscule edit making his smile less wide, didn't see Mrmo's post until just now :)

Faces are hard.

Okay... here's my progress. I'm still trying to fit more stuff on the sword dood.

I looks awesome. I think the thing with the legs though is that the left thigh on him is sticking out to much. Maybe pushing it in one pixel might fix it.

The abs look odd to me, like one side is longer than the other. You will notice it more when you look at them in relation to the pectoralis(boobies). I also think that lack of a defined rib cage looks odd.

About the legs, the one calf looks way to big to me. A reference will go a long way I think.

The head, chest and the characters right arm look great!

New stuff

I think I'm going to go with the first blue guy instead of the second, the arm is better I think.

All that is left is some tweaking on the knight and the chief and it'll be close to done I think. Not 100% happy with them though.

Wow lots of promising stuff around :D

@Showtime you're doing great with the face so far, can't wait to see the rest!

@Pavanz: like the pose you've done, it gives a dynamic feel :) One thing I'm not 100% sure about though is the wrist area of her raised hand (maybe a couple of pixels too long?)

I also tried a little something, not sure if I'll have time to do more

it's been monthes since my last pixel thing, feeling so slowww - but then maybe I should have done an easier static pose, ugh *headbutt into a wall*

First time posting here, just found your site. I usually do 3D sculpting, but am now working on a pixel game so time to improve...

Hat (edit: erm Hair I mean) version below. 128x128, so far about 15 colors. We don't have presets right we can choose our own?

Wanted to give him a hat that was one of those little dogs licking it's nose.

Any input is appreciated.

edit: Costume

edit: Base, Costume, Hair. Added mustache, combover and ear hair...

edit: Equipment

edit: Feature (still not quite sure what that means but people seem to be freeforming pretty heavily...)

Went with a vincent price vampire theme...
