Reduce canvas by 90% and then focus on pixelart techniques 90% of the time.
If you decide to continue as you have been and within 72 hours (+-) decide to quit the piece and crop the cave entrance or some other small detail and submit that as a complete pixel then it will be sent back. We will continue to do this with your work until you understand what is happening and more importantly that we want you develop skills and be creative and productive at the same time but will not support lazy behaviour nor encourage lazy habits.
You get tough pixel love, k.

Agreed with jal. I had the exact same problem with a piece of mine where the canvas was bloody massive, resizing it enabled to to focus a LOT more on technique. Working with this big of a canvas will lead to frustration once you get to colouring and details.

Okay, yeah I understand. The thing is I want it to be so... You know, epic!
I have probably been doing little 100x100 and smaller pieces for roughly 3 years. Although it was just recently that I found a lot of the rules that you guys have. I didn't even know they existed, for example pixel clusters. I don't even understand pixel clusters.
I know a lot about art but am still a big NOOB when it comes to pixel art. I have been doing portraiture for a long time under the teachings of a local university professor. In fact I started in grade 7 and I am now in grade 11. I know my fair share of the human anotomy (only in the face) but translating my knowledge into pixels is incredibly difficult and I am improving as a pixel artist at a very slow slow pace. So I think I'll start myself over maybe, you know a refresh. I want to start practicing all the basic technical stuff and day by day just push one tiny inch better and more challenging myself. I think that could be good for me, also might be fun. What do you think?

Pixel clusters aren't really a "rule", but moreso just a technique. Pixel clusters are just having no single pixels (perhaps that's a gross over simplification, or I'm sure someone else could explain what they are more eloquently :P). Take a look at this if you're interested in knowing more! http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=16079.0 - http://wayofthepixel.net/index.php?topic=16079.0
"What do you think?"
(not sure if this is directed at me but I'll give my opinion anyways :P) I think you should go with whatever makes you most comfortable, it is your piece so it is totally up to you with what you do with it. I still think you should tone the canvas down by a lot, but in the end it is totally up to you.

Epic has nothing to do with size.
Epic happens and is not designed.
Just keep practicing and focusing on technique, form, lighting and all that in a size you can handle from beginning to end using the best techniques you can and focusing on improving with each pixel you place...that's epic.
