CHALLENGE: Lipstick Figure

Create a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head_shot - headshot portrait using only these ten colours taken from http://www.lorealparis.com.au/_en/_au/needs/index.aspx?id=Needs_Cosmetics_Lips_Lipsticks - L'Oréal's lipstick range . It can be a portrait of any person you want; Barack Obama, your hairdresser, an original character, etc...

Optional Bonus Challenge - Use all of the colours!



Canvas Size - Max 90 x 90.
Colours - Min 6; max 10.
Transparency - No.
Animation - Optional.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.

Looks nice!


Uses all the 10 colors if im not mistaken. No one specific, though nothing too original.

Since multiple entrys are allowed i might make something else too, im really liking the palette.

EDIT: Oddly, and perhaps a little self-indulgently, I think my portrait looks nicer the longer you look at it.

try to always contras colors for fun effects in pixel art, ( like the dark scars you used, instead make them white to contrast ) edited some meh lightining and some mor minor edits on hair and etc for a better look :3

Thanks for the tips, though i already submitted the piece. The "scars" are more of a stylized eye makeup, so i wouldn't make it white. And the colors contrast between the two sides of the face? Or should there be some kind of direct darkest to whitest shade contrast right next to each other? I'd appreciate if you could explain your choices a bit more since i really like your pixelstuff.
I'll put the submitted piece here too, so you don't have to look for it.

Its all in angles and line work.



See for female cheeks and neck super curved, yet I disagree with some peoples points with woman have smooth jaws because many woman have super defined jaws.


I see that your problem here is with the eyes, your eyes suggest really masculine features, I am unsure how to readjust this I would suggest redoing some of your linework getting the head shape in then adding the features and finally hair. The real big factor here is that this woman's lips are really masculine and is proportioned... Not the best.

The eye makeup on her seems really depressing and gothic, lips are out of place, nose is pig like and the shoulder should definitely not be there. Her facial expression is sad aswell, all in all re do the linework if you want a really girly girl, make her face bigger so you can go more into detail yadda yadda yadda.

andrea: Your piece has great feeling so far! As for the hair, I think it would help a lot if you would choose a more specific light source for the highlights, they seem random and unnatural right now. Also the neck is bit too thin in my opinion? Otherwise it's amazing :)

The ear is slighty out of place. My suggestion for the left half of her face would be to make it so her cheeks and forehead are ahead of her hair are not so droopy.

You mean like African skin, or literally black? You'll probably have to rely on bone structure and musculature to communicate race.
