CHALLENGE: Scrabble High-Scorer

Create an image representing a two to four word phrase whose initials begin with Q, X, Z, or J.

Each initial can only be used once. Also, please stick to just English words. Examples:

Zany Xylophone
Quilted Zebra Jetpack

Don't forget to mention what your phrase is!

Optional Bonus Challenge: Use a four word phrase - one for each initial.

Canvas Size - Max 180 x 180.
Colours - Max 10.
Transparency - Optional.
Animation - Optional.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

I'm working with connecting the words first.

The first one is wildly inappropriate in action and may make a sailor blush but I think it's humorous written down.

Zoogenic Xylocarp Jabirus - a stork with wooden skin/feathers or made of wood.
Zoogenic - originating, or produced by animals rather then plants.
Xylocarp - a hard, woody fruit.
Jabirus - a large stork found in Mexica and Argentina.

What do you think about it? And if I will do it what would look better? Standing or flying Jabirus?

Jasmin = Name
Xenic = denoting the presence of bacteria
Zodiac = Astrology, associated with each of the 12 signs of the zodiac
Queen = a female sovereign who is the official ruler or head of state

Dont know in what this will result.. was fun so far ! lol

so far i got Quantum Jello Zebra Xylophone

also xanthocyanopsy (form of colour-blindness in which only blue and yellow can be distinguished) - awesome word for straightening out the palette. Dibs!

Since everyone else has got their WIPs, here's what I've done so far.



It's a Juvenile Quetzacoatl. I don't even care if Quetzacoatl doesn't count as an English word; I've gone too far to back out now.

Ok, here's the first update...The next step would be adding details to the hat, feather and spine parts.
(Truth be told, this is one of the most complex pixels I have been working on so far, therefore, suggestions and/or advices would be really welcome ^^)

Hello, I am new here. I hope my submissions are enjoyed, I am just learning the techniques and aesthetic of pixel art. I realize I'm unlikely to win at this early stage in my pixel artistry but I wish to submit to these competitions regularly to continue to improve my skill.



I had a lot of trouble with the 10-colour limit, I really wish I had a new colour or three especially for the fabric on the legs.

Drazile: Darn, just re-read and realized it was supposed to be a 2-4 word phrase and not just any word beginning with those letters. Yet, his hands are almost set to play a xylophone or break a cross to become xenophobic; I suppose that adding that would be a good challenge.

I already submitted the previous one so I've probably missed out for this contest, but will check back for next week! And I would be happy to hear critique as well, I realize it's far from perfect and that I have a lot to learn! Also, it has been pointed out to me that the black background counts as an 11th colour, another reason I'm disqualified.

These are challenges designed to help you get better thru motivation, not contests, k.

You can update your entry if you need to at any time
tho its best to try not to because most who already saw/rated any entry
is unlikely to miss an update.

Some do add 'updated' to the preview file when needed and does help.

To update any entry go to art page and hit the 'edit it'
under all art to upload the revision.

Zombie = a live corpse



I feel like this pixel could be improved (it looks somewhat terrible). Could somebody give me a comment or critique? :)

I also made an animation version :D
