inside a tar-filled sky?))

Since most game covers and posters are in portrait rather than landscape, can we flip the canvas around, or is it set in stone as is?

Also, calling ALF-Life before anybody else thinks of this.

Very early WIP of Super Mash Bros

If I complete this, it will be my fifth piece to include Mario. In fact, I've drawn all of these characters before :D

The other ideas here are way better, but I'm doing Gunpint (Gunpoint). Not the best idea or execution, but heres a WIP, even though I consider it pretty much done.. Any critique?

What about Wii (p) lay, for all those who are actually too lazy to engage in any sort of physical activity.

I tried messing around with your Tom. One important thing to think about when doing tiny pixel art portraits is to try and focus one the person's distinguishing features ( which can be pretty hard with a face like Hank's ). For Hank, he has a bit of a double chin, a bulbous nose and an awkward smile and a high forehead. I wouldn't say my edit nails the likeness very well either though! It's tricky!
As for the general pixelart you gotta use way more contrast than that!

Wow. I have a lot to learn :-O

The contrast it's always my failure (one of more).

I'll try to improve the image and contrast.

Thanks!

Ok, I was trying to get away from pixel art due to my lack of artistic skill. I though I would pop on here to see what was going on and this one seemed like to much fun to pass up. I hope this qualifies. "Assassin's Reed"

Before you get too much further - the canvas needs to be rotated (320 x 200 not 200 x 320).

I just realized I'm not yet good enough with my pixelling skills to take on a challenge like this (at least at the level I want it to look), so if anyone wants to take on Fatal Fur, feel free.

How are you going to improve if you don't challenge yourself?

Posted By: StoneStephenT
Date Posted: 13 November 2014 at 10:05pm
It's not a matter of challenging myself as much as it is knowing my limitations. My skills are limited right now (especially with backgrounds), and I don't want to make something that looks half-assed for the sole purpose of getting an entry into this week's challenge.

But I've still got my work file, and I'll go back to it as my skills improve (i.e. as I get in more actual practice for my pixelling). Who knows, maybe I'll turn it into something worthwhile by the end of the year.

Thanks for the feedback again. I finally quit the challenge. The idea was more ambitious for my pixel art level. I must continue practicing.

Thanks again.

Discouragement growing like a snowball.

Date Posted: 14 November 2014 at 1:46am
If I discouraged you from doing anything, I apologize for it. My intent was merely to free up a "called" suggestion for someone else and admit to my own shortcomings vis-á-vis my pixelling skill level. I never intended to discourage anyone else from working on their own entries for the challenge, and I'm sincerely sorry if you or anyone else interpreted my posts like that.

I see some calling dibs but there is no such rule on this challenge. Multiple entries of the same name should be ok.

Thanks for encouragement, but I got real-life things to deal with, such as new job. I may make time for it but I doubt it. Oh well, there's always next challenge!
