Hey all, these days I've been coding a shoot them up engine and
Blueberry Pie has been spriting for it but I've just realized that the
more sprites there were in a shmup the funnier it was.
I count on you to make great sprites :D
Here is what we need :
-Ennemies and bosses sprites : from 32*32 to 320*320 with as many animations as you want ^^
-Bullets any rockets (at least 8*8. No max size).
-Backgrounds (320*Anything>=400 Must be tilable)
-various explosions (atm, ennemies and player just disappear)
Here is a quick demo of the game : http://fil.razorback.free.fr/deltav/v1.html - =>Background is temporary
=> F key to shoot
=> G key to change weapon (this is a developement tool, you should wait for an upgrade)
Please, try to stick to BBpie's style ^^

-MonkeyOfDoom's (implanted)

-Setz's (Will be used just before the last boss for humoristic purpose)

-BBpie's (player's weapon 1)
-Mine (ennemies's blue and red + player's green)
-Larwick's rockets(implanted)

Thanks fil, i thought that with my lack of help with Phen i would collab a bit with this. I'm currently working on an animation of the ship you like transforming (from the patterned edges). It's quite good so far, in my eyes. I'll update as soon as i can.
More people should do this, it's great fun (although quite alot like the make a ship collab..)

Well not to be mean but larwicks are kind of dark I think. It's hard to ake out the details, that's why mine have slightly more contrast. Go ahead and alter the palette but it will look muddy in my opinion.

Well the missiles are 0.1 seconds for each frame. Would you like me to split up the 'going forward', 'going left' and 'going right' frames into seperate animations? Unless you've been able to do it yourself, i'll do it when i get home from school.
The 'going forward' ship has 2 frames (of the jets going in and out) each 0.1 seconds long. The animation of the ship transforming should all be 0.1 seconds long aswel, although i might have left a bit of time with the same 'going forward' animation before it transforms.
Generally every frame is 0.1 seconds long because of the flaming jet thingeys.
Hopefully that all makes sense.

I was more thinking of something like this :

About the ship, it's well executed but it doesn't look very..suitable.
Also, we should diversify it a bit I think. Else they'll be all the
same :/

Ok, I got this station-type thingie going on, its a wip in low-stage. I will probably re-do the main texture, got a bit overdone. Then add engine animations and hatch animation, and then make different versions of it, add some texts and some cannons maybe.

Maybe I make two types of it - one with green lights that throws out all kinds of ammo and power-ups, the other with red lights that shoots at you and throws out enemy ships etc.

Well not to be rude but i think some of these look like organic half bloomed flowers flyig backwards. But that's my opinion. Oh and that last one was BEAUTIFUL.

Robotech is an anime film series not a shmup game. Well not in the traditioal sence, however there was a Macross shmup for the NES it was absolute crap . So there. Besides who needs a vehicle that can transform into three modes when just 2 will do, the robot and the jet.
