Hello all, Florian speaking.
Let me introduce to you first
Name: Florian
Age: 18
Interested in: Pixel art 'nd Photoshop
Country: The netherlands
Site language: English

Oke the following idea camed up

- Ultimate design 'nd Pixelaters want to compeet each other in a competition. We both make 2 village's. At the end of the summer holiday will get our village's together and watermark it then some pro pixelartists will vote for them.

We are looking for young designers because its a great opportunity for them to learn 2 handle pixels as quick as posible. The idea is building a village compleet from pixels. You can animated them if you want. Will build an 2000x2000 BG and create pixelt grass. You can design youre own building, people, shops etc etc etc.
Here is an example:

Again: This is an oppotunity for young designers to pick up pixels as quick as posible.

Note: This is not obligatorily 'nd for this straight thing. Please don't leave Pixel joint forum cauze they are really awesome!!!!

Take it a shot :)

Kind regards,

You're best Friend,
Florian http://www.pixelaters.com - Check it please

Very nice site layout and great idea to throw in pixel art in a Photoshop based site.

@Souly, I think he means to build a village over a period of time which both improves your skills as well as teaches others how to make pixel art using Photoshop. Settings, tips, tools, techniques, etc. The emphasis being on Photoshop a s a tool :?

I would florian but I'm really busy at the moment, maybe later in the year. Seems like you have other things to work on your site. I'm not too bad with ISO and may only keep others from starting one. I will check and comment on your updates if you'd like, or even go to your site to provide suggestions to others from time to time.

Shark, maybe his English isn't that good.
His site is mostly about Photoshop and its possibilities, uses and tools. One these is pixel art, therefore the sig and graphics do not need to be made using pixelart. He wants to have a section dedicated to pixelart when using photoshop which is very original because no one else has included the capabilities of Photoshop for pixelart. He means to show these tips and tutorials by makng a collab where members and others supply examples that are combined collab style into a village, rather than a sample gallery, very original.

I didnt mean to flame. Sorry about the spelling thing, im kinda
cranky today. Yes it is a great way for beginners to learn all kinds of
stuff , but what i didn't understand was i thought this was a
'pixel-battle' or wateva between you and some other people, and i
failed to see where we are involved.

Like I said in my first post of this topic: Pixelaters is not finished yet and does not have ''lots of'' people with the quality to build their own citty. Thats why we have chosen 2 months of building time. If you can understand we can fall back for help if something goes wrong or if we have problems making something in our citty. And this is a great forum with lots of pro's were youre and our beginners can learn alot from making a citty.

I understand now, so we'll be working on your team.

On the art side of things: wouldnt it be easier to make the template
square so it tiles better?

I believe he means a select area in which we can edit, to create our place to add to the whole thing without people overstepping boundaries etc.

Sounds alright, to arange layers acordingly.. though, it doesn't benefit those who don't use/own photoshop..

Takes much too long to load on mine.

Florian here is a block template to get you going  They can be tiled as things get added. People can use the entire area within the tile so cars and things can be placed on the street as long as they don't go outside the tile. I'll make you the beach tile in a couple of days too.

Also people for scale since some people have trouble with that. I also included the lamposts so that your city has a consistent look to it. A car too.

The last thing is my block which is still a WIP.

Hah, I had a similar collab idea in the past for some other forum, but when I was almost finished with the road basics I started getting a connection error and ended up not releasing it.

I guess the above post has far better quality, but if you like mine I'll post the road chips.

Sorry for the over-sized image

[Yeah, image was too big and sort of stole florian's thunder. Changed it to a link - Larwick]

I liked the basic idea at the beginning, consisting of an actual rural/not technologically advanced TRUE village, I guess "village" was used because of translation, and "city" or "town" would have been closer.  Btw, that larger template helps alot jal, the other was too small to do much with.
