Hi guys,

I notice a couple people visit here regularly, and I thought it would be nice to get to know each other a bit better.

So why not say hi, and tell us why you are interested in participating with the OPP?

Also, we now just got a chatroom at - Discord . Come see us there!

My name is Daniel / Hapiel, and I am from the Netherlands.
I like yellow, hitchhiking, and love my various occupations!

I enjoy organising things, for example back in 2008 I founded a popular - pixel art group at DeviantArt which hosted a couple collaborations.
Besides doing some freelance game art from time to time, I am mostly a juggler/circus performer. Also in that area I like to organise, now I am part of the team that organises the worlds largest - juggling convention in 2016!

Creating the Open Pixel Platformer was the logical result of many ideas. I enjoyed running collaboration projects, I wished to learn more about sprites and tiles, I enjoy editing other peoples work and to see my work edited and improved...
On top of that, I had been a huge fan of the - PJ game project and the - Liberated Pixel Cup . With the OPP I hoped create new enthusiasm for open and collaborative game art, and I hope this project will grow to something that is sustainable for many years!

My name is David, or DDR, and I am from Canada
I like red, books, and programming, but I am currently unemployed.

I enjoy making things! It's fun to see something come to life. I've put some of the more interesting stuff up on my website gallery.

I got involved in OPP because I didn't want to see the project wither on the vine, unused. Art is so much safer when it's in use, and there's something you can download and play around with.

Hello, I'm Gabe. I'm from Indiana, and apparently I'm the only person so far who knows that Green reigns supreme on the color spectrum. As far as employment goes, it would take a long time to explain exactly what it is that I do, but trust me, your reaction would be "Hmmm... Neat."

My hobby is to have lots of hobbies. For starters, I love music. I play Piano, Drums, Harmonica and I plan to learn how to play the Violin. I also enjoy refurbishing old pianos.

I'm also a techie. I worked in IT for 5 year before I moved to my current job, so you had better believe I have a sweet gaming rig. This played a big part in my interest in pixel art, and my ever-growing collection of dated video game consoles. Contrasting technology, I also regularly participate in 1760-1812 historical reenactments as an Eastern Woodland Native American. Because of this I've begun learning the Myaamia dialect of the Algonquian language, as well as a little bit of French.

I don't want to keep dragging on, so I'll just start listing off the rest of my hobbies without going into detail.
There are more, but this should be sufficient for now.

I'll end things by listing one of the items on my bucket lists.
Witness the Northern Lights/Aurora Borealis in person.

Yes sir! I'm no professional, but I've got a few tricks in the bag. I've invented a few of my own as well.

My name is Patrik, and I'm from Sweden (and soon-to-be dad). Since everyone else mentioned their favorite (?) color I prefer purple, and I work as a game programmer. Want to try something out? My very first game that hit the market is/was "Morphball" and is still available on google play and I think on the IOS app-store too. Originally written for the windows phone, I had a company convert it to android/ios. Enough with the shameless promotion though.

Hobbies... except for everything game-related (playing, creating, pixelart etc.) I like movies, tv-series (although I would want to watch more), music (listening, but I would love to be able to create too) and more.

As for the OPP, I've been lurking on this site for probably years now but never joined, but the OPP was something that intrigued me, and as DDR said, seeing unused assets be buried would be such a shame.

Patrik, congrats on the child, and good luck, it will be fulfilling, but hard work, and totally worth it.

Hi, my name is Damian. I live England, and previously lived in South Africa. I am also another purple person. You'd catch me wearing purple Jeans and a maroon shirt, and if I wasn't going bald at a young age, I'd still have purple hair :P

For hobbies, I'm a very active athlete(long distance runner, hiking, rugby too), I like to go to social events for game development, I love art(maybe pixel art ;), Chess, programming(C#. PHP, Object Pascal) and some scripting languages, and then I also love web design. I'm also in love with modern fantasy RPG's, dragon age, Mass effect, the wither 3 and some other ones you might not have heard of.

I am currently working full time in Catering doing conference bookings, invoicing and physical catering work, while also studying full time as a Web design specialist :) And then work part time as a sports duty manager and in marketing (Id do too much :\ )

And now the OPP. I've known a couple of the people who have collaborated in the OPP for a few years now, either from afar or personally through frequent media interaction. My involvement in the OPP has been partially due to the opportunity to work with these people (you guys are all great :) and also to realise and work on a project that has no other motive than to help a wide range of people in the gaming industry and outside.

Yeah, I guess In short thats me.

Also, David, didn't know you were the one who worked on that train thing. I followed some dev and then it all but disappeared :/

Thanks, and yeah, looking forward to it :)

Yeah, a purple-buddy! What distances do you usually run when doing long distances? I must admit I don't like running at all, you'll occasionally see me at the gym trying to keep healthy though :P

Sounds like everyone has lots of stuff going on!

Hey all,

I've been floating around the forum for a few days now, drooling over all the amazing assets you've created for OPP. So, I thought I would introduce myself! (Hopefully I'm not too late to the party)

Hi, my name is Garrett and I live in Portland, Oregon USA. I stay busy working for a couple local small businesses, I love caring for animals, playing & creating video games, working with my hands, and long walks on the beach.. I've recently harnessed my passion for video games & am in the process of creating my first vision.

You all seem to have a great relationship here with a common cause, and while I'm no artist, I'd love to contribute in some way. I'm using most of the wonderful assets you all have created for us, and would love to see this project keep growing!

As for me, I'd like to offer paid commission for development of various OPP art! Such as: new environment tile sets, new animal(s) & animations, and characters just to name a few. (Sorry if this isn't the right place for this sort of post!)

Thanks for all the wonderful work you guys do! Feel free to PM me with any thoughts or interests in commission work :)

Hello everybody!

I am so amazed by this project that I could not let this pass by without any contribution.

I discovery it searching for free resources for my game, specifically a pixel art platformer, this assets are beautiful and as an Open Source enthusiastic I think the whole project is great!

Let me introduce myself:
My name is Gil, I am a guy with 27 yo from Brazil, currently I pay the bills making Mobile Apps, specifically the concept, User Experience and Programming. But I love to make design and illustrations as a hobby since kid. And I used to make games with pixel art style.

I really want to help in this project, if you let me, I want to post here in the forum the best I can, and if the art don't fit the specifications please let me know to try to make it better.

Thanks for the opportunity and congratulations for this great idea of an Open Pixel Platform project

Welcome to the PJ forum. Any contribution to this project is always welcome.

By the way, I wouldn't worry about the quality of your contributions right now, any criticism given here would be to help you and others improve in the long term :)

Hello guys! My name is Linus. 24yo swedish guy that has always loved pixel art. I first stumbled upon it playing Tibia in early 00s. Since then I have always admired people and thinking I was never good enough. Until I took on some more serious work for the open tibia community. And now I want to develope myself more as an artist and wanted to check this out to build up my portfolio!

I would love to know how I can contribute to this project. Could anyone point me in the right direction? :)

Date Posted: 05 March 2016 at 4:14pm
Yeah, Tibia! I also had a Tibia phase, though I never made art it.

How to contribute? There are plenty of threads, such as the "village set" or "cave set" which are a bit active at the moment, if you think something is missing, if there are things on the list (first post, or anywhere in the thread), if there is something you love to draw, if something needs to be fixed.. Just draw it, post about it!

We are making still some (very slow) progress on a system that would make saving artwork collectively a bit easier.. one day in the future, we'll let you know when that happens :)

Greetings! My name is Bill, and I'm also from Indiana. Pink has always been my favorite, because bubble gum is one of my favorite things.

I work as a cashier/waiter at a local Italian American restaurant that started out as a pub around eighty years ago and is still owned by the same family.

I like to read ghost stories, books on local history, and books on art. Even though my username may suggest it, I do not know how to play the harmonica or any musical instrument.

As for the OPP, I stumbled upon it while exploring these forums. It looked fun and I needed something to do. So here I am!

Hi Bill, Your drawings are great! I love the roof and the Water Fountain. And now I know a properly name to call you, I was not comfortable calling you "Oh Look a Harmonica!" hahaha

Hello, Bill! I was just looking back through the welcome thread and saw that you live in Indiana as well! I'm trying to send you a PM, but it looks like somehow the PJ system is cutting your user name off short every time I press send. Perhaps there is an issue with character limits that you somehow bypassed by including spaces in your name?

Hapiel had informed me of this awhile ago too. Perhaps I need to look into getting my username changed if possible.
