Oh man. I had an idea. So it's an image of a professor drinking a potion and the asistant has a speech bubble saying "It goes against nature!" and then suddenly the image animates and he gains a speech bubble that says "no..." then changes to "I am beyond beyond the laws now" and gains color, the image changes to frames of him making a daring escape from the facility as guards show up to arrest him and in the end he jumps out of the canvas, out of the image itself... but that's too many rules broken. Plus I cant animate things with pixel art that well. :(

so 3 colours plus transparancy? i felt like this challenge was too interesting to not do

edit: do we HAVE to break one rule or can i just stick to them?

In Quitman, Georgia, it is illegal for a chicken to cross the road.
I made 2 different pixels of chickens crossing a road.
This will not have any transparency

Any tips on the dithering, the chicken or your opinions plz :D

You are able to break one rule, but you don't have to.

tips on the chicken please :D

The chicken is great. Its the rest that needs work.
How you managed to pick even uglier colors than the greys you had is a real skill :p

Just pixel and worry about colors later.

I dont think having transparency is a rule, it was just clarifying that transparency is a color, right?

Transparency is required (unless you're breaking that rule).

Transparency is mentioned under 'colours' because people often forget that transparency is considered a colour.

Wanted to post this earlier, but for some reason I had problems accessing the site and forums...

So far, so good. I like how it turned out. I'll probably have to add some stuff in so people will have a somewhat easier time acknowledging the exact canvas size.
I won't be surprised if you guess what am I planning to do though, since I bet it's obvious. After all, how much crime can you do with a wall?

idea: crimeception

committing the crime of breaking this rule of committing the crime of breaking this rule...

Feeling like I may be inadvertently committing more than one crime by making something so hideous D: It's really bad and I know what I'm doing wrong (light source, too many colours, too much dithering, yucky palette, missed a few transparency spots and so on but knowing this doesn't make the versions without those things not look twice as hideous too though)

I'll delete this one entirely and try again for something smooth and minimal but I think I'll ultimately have to let this one go, I'm just not smart enough/experienced enough to make it with these restrictions XD

*apologies for eye burn

I can't believe my own eyes. A challenge where I can use as much colors as I want? Yeeeeah!
Here's Horus, committing the crime of treachery against the Imperium, depicted in a stained-glass triptych. On the sides are heretek vs. a loyal techpriest and witch vs. witch-hunter.

That thing has 40 colors, but that only means that I'm breaking the colors restriction all the harder.

I added some dithering :D
it is very hard to pixel grass with a few colours

the transparent requirement is quite intresting, I have an idea but i don't know if it will work because transparent is actually a colour and there is too many themes that have to work together with this... (btw why so much off-white backrounds in those?)
But if i do a picture depicting several crimes that tie together, is it against the assigment?
clefairykid; i think that pic stilla had potential :)

Very nice. The colors are great and add to the story with its warmth :)

You could do some minor pixelling on the grass to imply that its grass without over pixelling.

You could also add some small blades of grass using the orange color on the purple mountain were the jaggies are to soften that up ;)

Maybe because the sun is behind the chicken the ground shadow should come toward the viewer instead of top down as you have it and make it more dramatic and elongated.

One last thing is that maybe you could clean the sun to one color so it stands out better.

---
I hope you did not get offended that I found your colors real terrible and maybe sounded harsh :)

Thanks for the great advice!
lol i'm gonna make a bigger shadow so a picture of a chicken crossing a road will become dramatic :D:D:D::D

Hey redstone_pil, before I forget. When you are all done and submit remember to write in the description how this scene is breaking the law in Russia because without that context most will just not get what the scene is all about.
A chicken crossing the road means something entirely different in America, for example and in some countries a chicken doing anything is a miracle :)

I feel like I'm not taking advantage of breaking the height rule so I'm thinking about going underground. This is my first challenge and I am being challenged!

Still lots of work to do and colors are not final, but I'm kinda into pink today.

"edit: do we HAVE to break one rule or can i just stick to them?"

100 pixel horizontal would be breaking a rule.

This is what happened thus far.

Also went with a graffiti theme. No intention to plagiarize Eggy

What is transparency?

This does not qualify as pixelart the way you saved the file. Use gif or png output only.

Yes that is better to view the pixels.
Clean it up, k. Its a bit dirty and scribbly.
Just because its 4 colors don't mean it can't be polished ;)

In case you need it, many here use imgur.com to host their pixels and it works really well.

So in Britain it is illegal to handle a salmon in suspicious circumstances, and i my mind went to places and what i am trying to do, is a man with a salmon behind a corner trying to ambush and rob a fellow citizen (that i just took out because it looked awfull)
hmm, i seem to be in a deadlock with this one... any suggestions about how to do a brickwall while still conserving transparency? Any C&C really...

Posted By: awestsecurity
Date Posted: 19 June 2015 at 9:22am
@sakhart I'm having a hard time making out the person. I can sort of figure out the salmon, but are you only using 3 colors? Having a tone between the black and white might help clarify.

As far as transparency goes you can imagine it will be the default grey of PixelJoint for most viewers and use it as that color. It is more reliable to use it to break the rectangle though. It wouldn't be cheating to round the corners a little, and that wouldn't interfere with your image much.

Posting my (probably) last update, but I still feel like there's many details I should be working on. Is there anything glaring I should focus on?

yep, the bg should be transparent, i did experiment with chaging white with gray transparent, but it looked funny in my eye, but i do get the critisim about the colour, the bg was suppposed to be the transparent colour...

perhaps leave the underunderground out, it would be more defined in my opinion
