Hi there, so many time without posting! I did this piece:

based on this public domain character http://opengameart.org/content/castle-platformer - http://opengameart.org/content/castle-platformer
I would like to know your thoughts and some tips to enhancing it. The aim is a Metroidvania-like.
Also I would like to know if anyone is interested in contributing with enhancements or more art.
PS: Oh, the wings are taken from an enemy in the free art (CCommons) Monsterboy in Wonder World. I modified them and made a full winged animation, which is not displayed here.

the wings seem to be a little blurry to me, and the arms are very stiff. The background looks quite nice but the characters colors don't seem to really mesh with the feel of the background to me

Thank you, I did this revision. I tried to change a bit the arms and also change the wings (but I'm clueless about the wings). Also redid the background, yes, I know, it's too blurry, but I don't know how to "pixelize" it more. Any tips?
As for the axe, I used as a base the free (CCommons) "Dwarven Icons" resource at opengameart. For the platform I used as a base the free (CComons) "[M13] Cave Platformer Extension" at opengameart.

Do you want a pixel-art background? If not, then don't make one. If you want a softer, painted look though, all of the background should be like that. When you mix pixel art (like that blue platform) with non-pixel art like the rest of the background, it looks off. If you do want a pixel art background - try starting by separating it into planes, with one or two colours per plane (e.g. near mountains, fog between castle and mountains, castle, sky). Then, add detail to each plane as needed. Going from a painting to pixel art is tougher if you're not sure what you're doing, so splitting things up into distinct planes and shapes can help you approach it differently.

Thank you. This is too much fun. Here is my latest revision following your comments. .
For the enemy I heavily modified one enemy (medusa) from opengameart ("6 more RPG enemies"). For the UI I modified "Flare HUD" from opengameart.
Please would you make any more suggestions?

I like the screenshots, I wont help to enhance it ( those pixels are above my skill level). Overall, it looks really nice!

Thank you for your help, especially in the other thread, and sorry for the late response. I've been doing some work based on your suggestions, and I will upload it. Also I will reupload the broken links in this thread, but I need some time. Talk to you soon, hopefully!
