I'm working on some pixel art that looks similar to flappy bird for a tutorial. I'm having a really hard time with it, and frankly it just looks awful. Can someone give me some advice on how I could improve this? Thanks!

you can draw inner outlines with different colour/s than black.

| It reads as a flappy pig to me. Bird needs a beak The body is not birdish either, And the eyeball is not round, so it gives impression of glasses. The shading is strange and makes it flat. The wing(?) looks like coin. |
