Just remove background layer and save it in PNG

Get 'giffy' from the FAQ page or read the 'lose weight' news item in the gallery. Many online utilities do this too. See the gallery links section to find what works for you.

@all who may be new.
A 'sprite' includes the entire body of a character or asset.
A face only or partial character is a portrait.

Arms are hard to read unless you zoom in.
May need to line in black since you use it on the neck too.
The walk is primitive and not quite right but I like it :)

Hi everyone.

I am new to these forums, and pixel art in general.
For the sake of motivation I have decided to wet my feet by participating in this week's challenge.

This is what I have so far:

What do you think? Any advice/criticism would be highly valued.

3 colors and a small canvas size makes it easier to animate!

This is the first concept, also, what's the best program to put transparency, etc?

I already replied to you above.
The 'best' is the one that you find works best for you and you may have to try several options.

Thanks for the advice.  I'll try some black on the arm outline.

I know what you mean about the walk.  Might do a 4 frame walk but keep the 2 frames anyway, depending on what looks most appealing :)

Cleaner version, still wip, hope to make at least 2 more frames. Not sure I'll have time :S (she's saying hello, in case anyone wonders ;)

Edit: latest, still some polishing to do but I think all 7 frames are there. Who does 7 frame sprites??? Also she says Hi, not Hello.

Edit2: almost done? also made a 6-frame v° by just removing one frame. I think I'll go for it as it's more crisp; needs a little more polish though. Opinions?

7F:    6F:

@Mega_19: that run is hilarious =D
It's unbalanced (heavily leaning back) but that's part of the appeal, I guess. Maybe try to reduce it by 1px or so?

Posted By: Mega_19
Date Posted: 21 January 2016 at 10:36am
i would pick the 7F one since the 6F looks so sudden, like shes doing some kind exercise x)
the 7F looks more natural, like shes waving her hand saying hi!

also my run hilarious?
so that means i totally nailed it!
thanks :)

You guys are not helpful

Edit: final, hopefully. Went for 6, polished it. Now she really says hi (will show better on PJ theme). May or may not keep that.

Last edit: final and submitted. Lots of little fixes, color tweaks, mostly set white to pure for readability.

Still not sure why getting transparency to work is such a problem.

In the meantime I've got a 2nd draft with a  frame walk cycle.

Edit - Seems ok here, maybe transparency wasn't a problem after all :)

You had a white BG before this last update is fine.
