Wow, this challenge fits me!

I got some questions about the rules regarding clarification on transparency

Can I make a animation that don't have transparency at all? If I would just use a dark blue background?

Does transparency count as a color, if so does a red 100% opacity and a red with 50% opacity on blank canvas count as one color or two separate colors?

Transparency always counts as a color because it is a color (with a mask).
Trans BG is pretty much a requirement on all sprites and the rules for the week does say required so you'll have to work with that :)

Hmm I had a decent idea in my mind but I'm having trouble. Would someone mind helping me refine the body so it's more masculine and doesn't look like a women? And I am also having trouble drawing feet from the front on perspective I drew. Thank you in advance to anyone who replies

the biggest reason it's not masculine is the hip-to-chest ratio, females have that big hips not guys, so widen the chest to make him look manly. as for feet, at this perspective i'd give up trying to stay true, use "blobs" and let the mind fill it in. or maybe stick with both feet inward.

So... I submitted my entry on Friday... It is still in the public queue!! I had no "revision" message. Never has a submission of mine stayed that long in the queue. What's going on?? Is it violating any rules? The only thing I can think of is that right after I submitted, I had to edit the piece (main art was placed in the "miniature" slot). I'm starting to get really worried about it.

My submission: The Wise Wizard:

Its sitting in the queue because you have not followed the rules for the week and I have been meaning to PM you about it.
Its ok to add to the gallery but not the challenge because you made a scene with a sprite casting a spell where a sprite is a standalone game asset that never uses a BG or setting.

Sorry... I didn't understand... Maybe if you write in other words...

Because I still see no problem:

Rules:

Size: ok

Colours: ok

Create an animated sprite: it looks pretty animated to me.

that shows a character casting a spell: he does

Any spell will do, including launching fireballs, shape-shifting, teleportation: blasting a whole kingdom with a spell counts?

Must have transparency: it has. 14th color

What's the problem? I see no other explicit restriction.

The issue is that your entry is not a Sprite. It follows all the rules directly mentioned in terms of color, size, etc. but it is not a Sprite. Sprites have a background that is transparent so they can be placed in any background. You illustrated a background scene which means your drawing is not a Sprite. If you were to draw a snowy background scene for a video game for instance. You would not be able to put your piece directly in the scene because it already has its own scene. The whole square of your piece would be placed on top of the new background and not just your character. A Sprite would be capable of being placed directly into the snowy scene and fit in because it would not have a default background, but be transparent so only the character is drawn and the transparent background is placed over the new background which shows up as your character seamless placed in the new environment.

I hope this makes sense and helps. Good luck

Thanks, Corunder. I'll remove all background and transitions and hope it works. Hell... Took me 61 frames to do that, only thinking of the challenge. =P

No more BG. I REALLY hope my piece is ok, now.

I hope you understand what a sprite is now.
Sprite is an animated item in a game. Always animated but non animated are called sprites too by many.
Asset is a non animated item like a plant, desk, etc. Sometimes these can be animated.
Sprites and assets always have trans BG.
