This time, we are going to build a pirate island(s). First time this round, the borders must end with water. Anything related to the general pirate feel is cool.
Several examples are: caves, buildings, forts, piers, ships (floating or not), pirates , palms, treasures, ghosts, skeletons, and any fantasy element as long as they are pirate-y.
Welcome to the ISObbean. Yaaaarrrrrr!

Rules
You can create more than one tile but your tile may not neighbor your own tile (even diagonally).
Only one active tile reservation at any one time per participant. You must finish a tile before making a new one.
Once you reserve a tile you must post an initial WIP within 4 days so it doesn't hold others up. 4 days pass quickly, so it is a good idea to post your WIP as soon as possible.
Once you post an initial WIP you get 7 days to update your tile or post a comment letting us know its active. Every new WIP/post update (busy, school, work, sick, moving, etc.) thereafter buys you another 7 days. This period is given so that you don't have to rush it, try not to forget your reservation.
Outer tiles MUST end with water at their outside edges AND use transparency to 'break the grid' (See the last collab edges http://pixeljoint.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=25150&PN=1 - HERE ).
Inner tiles CAN NOT use transparency.
You must use the supplied palette colors (22) only, but you don't have to use them all in your tile (Those making outer tiles will have one extra color for transparency).
NO animations.
Your tile must match the tiles surrounding yours, unless your tile has no neighbors (first 5 tiles). This will become increasingly tougher as tiles get added. Some tiles will need to match on as many as 4 sides.
Matching your neighbors does not mean it has to continue their idea/concept. Just that it blends seamlessly somehow.
Please keep the collab's general light-source and scale as shown below consistent in your tile. This may be tweaked in your tile if you use secondary light sources.
Please post your tile on its own as a comment and make sure to say what number it is and it will be added to the collab master image by a Collab Manager in order to keep the color palette true.
Your tile may be added to the master image in WIP stages if it shows the tile's direction enough to help others visualize their own tiles.

Special Rules
The first 5 tiles may be anywhere at all and require no neighboring tiles. If you pick one of these first 5 tiles, please try to finish your tile a.s.a.p. in order to open up space for others.
From the 6th tile on your tile MUST have at least one neighboring tile already posted that your tile blends into.
If one of the first 5 tiles picked is next to the first 4 tiles then tile number 6 may pick a tile with no neighbors. Or once 5 general starting points have begun.
In the event that a tile is made without a reservation or 2 people accidentally work on the same tile a special vote may be held, or a duel to the death may be started by the 2 people.
Special rule(s) may be added to accommodate whatever loophole y'alls manage to find and exploit.

Notes
Novice or pro, all are encouraged to collaborate.
Possible tile rejection if your tile is not in isometric projection or fails in scale.
Possible tile rejection if your tile does not match and blend into your neighbor(s) tile.
Possible tile rejection if your tile just doesn't blend in with some degree of harmony. Should this happen to you check for comments left for you... there will be some!
You can get tips and help to improve your tile on this thread. No need to make a separate WIP thread.
You are encouraged to take all c+c on your tile. You do not need to apply all given c+c but please don't ignore them. Especially from your neighbor. Remember this is a 'collaboration'.
Please use Yanrishatum's upgraded 'PJ Image Specs' tool http://yanrishatum.ru/pj/ - HERE to check your final tile colors has max 22 colors (+ transparency, 23 if an outer tile) and the right colors.

FAQ:
Q: Can I extend my tile over someone else's tile?
A: No. You can only ask them to edit their own tile, and if they don't, you'll have to find another way.

Q: What can I do if I want to draw something really big?
A: If you want to draw something that will take more than 2 tiles, you can draw a lineart sketch and ask people to join your "mini collab". If it's something interesting, you will certainly find people. Then you do your own part and let other people do their own thing. Everyone can add their own taste into their own tiles. You can check previous collabs for mini collabs.

Q: Can somebody else finish my tile from where I left?
A: No. We may allow this under very special circumstances (e.g. health) but normally unless you want to finish your tile, you have to give up on it.

Q: Is it OK to drop my reservation? Will I be banned?
A: Not at all. You can drop your reservations as many times as you want.

Q: I can't reach a certain quality. What should I do?
A: Collabs are great for this. You can work on your neighbor tiles, listen to criticism, and start over as many times as you want. And when YOU are satisfied, you can say it's done. As long as your tile meets the criteria such as continuity, light, scale & perspetcive; we will accept it.

Q: Can I use some existing pixels in my tile?
A: No, even if it was made by you. Everything in your tile must be made for this collab, by yourself.

Q: When I reserve a tile, do I need confirmation by mods to begin working on it?
A: If you are sure of these, you can begin working without confirmation.
1- your previous tile (if any) is finished,
2- you haven't made a neighboring tile previously,
3- the same tile is not claimed by someone else (check out latest posts),
4- the tile has a completed neighboring tile by someone else.

I'd love to try something! Gimme tile 25. Anyone up for the Flying Dutchman collab by the way?
I probably won't get a wip in within the next two days though; I have an uncancellable scheduled visit to grandma's for Easter. Thanks!

@ Veli, Eggy, SpeedyCube: All of your reservations are approved.

@Doppleganger: Since we now have the 5 first reservations, you will need to wait until SpeedyCube Eggy posts his her first WIP of tile #25. Your first 4 days will start once this happens. I've highlighted your tile number green to account for the extra time allocation. Makes sense?

Just a quick note @pyrometal to avoid potential confusion; it's me who reserved tile 25, not SpeedyCube. Also, just in case you were actually referring to me but wrote another person's username by mistake, I'm a girl (Not that it matters much though lol)

The second link in the rule about the PJ Specs tool is broken. Also, looks like you missed editing the colour counts in "max 22 colors (+ transparency, 12 if an outer tile)" xP

Posted By: pyrometal
Date Posted: 14 April 2017 at 2:19pm
@Lehmure: Yes, but same restriction as before, you need to wait until SpeedyCube posts his first WIP of tile #81 (for real this time ). Your tile number reservation is green to highlight this.

@eishiya: Thanks, made the fixes and a couple others that were also missed, such as no transparency, and edges ending with water. Wanna make a reservation?

Here's a quick WIP!

Sadly, I'm a little tight on time due to RL things so this is all I could dish out at the moment. I promise that there will be more to it than just wooden planks; I'd love to organize a mini-collab for a pirate ship/the Flying Dutchman (as I had mentioned earlier), though as I said I'm a bit tight on time and I'm not sure how to draw/construct a ship on ISO space because I've never done such a thing before. Would anyone care to help me out if interested?

Dropping my tile, sorry. The idea I had didn't really play well in practice.

Here is a rough WIP for the tile #48. There will be many more details and a few real pirates... and maybe a parrot.:)
The scene is set in the under hill.

I'm interested for a mini.  Been playing a lot of Taipan! lately, so I definitely want to see a junk (the ship) in this collab.  Maybe a sea battle between the Flying Dutchman and a junk.
I think for ships it would be wise to cheat on scale a little though, so they don't get too large.

I would like 55 please!

Posted By: Gecimen
Date Posted: 17 April 2017 at 8:36am
@Eggy, although much smaller in scale, I made an ISO ship in a much earlier ISO collab:

My calculations say a ship in our current scale a three times bigger ship will work fine. (It doesn't have to be 100% realistic, you know, but a few people must fit in).

a slightly more worked WIP (alongside Reo's 44 to show the transition). I'm slooowly getting there. Water still needs to be rendered but people working on adjacent tiles should have enough to go by.

Not sure what to do with the speech bubble, any suggestions? Any crits in general?

Guys & gals I'm putting up these semi-finished tile in the main image to give people something to continue but please finish them :)

Date Posted: 17 April 2017 at 10:01am
@Cancrizans
Looking good! I would try to lessen the amount of single pixels, maybe ditch the black outlines on the speech bubble? To make it feel more flat and removed

Posted By: Eggy
Date Posted: 17 April 2017 at 10:11am
So here's a... very basic and quick sketch. Feel free to redline it, edit it or whatever because I'm just not used to doing entire ships, especially in ISO perspective (but it may be because I couldn't take my time on this). I just hope it's not too big or anything.

Eggy it's way too big. :)
I mean I get it, maybe the Flying Dutchman is a big ship but you don't have to make it upto it's real scale. People have made all sorts of giant stuff in previous collabs in a "good looking" size that won't take more than 4 or 6 tiles.

Not to mention it's not ISO.

I'll draw something in a min.
Here's a quick sketch:

Thanks Geci. I'm not used to doing mini collabs either so pardon my scale-and-iso issues.
Could I (and the rest of the team too) use the sketch and modify as needed? As I had mentioned, I'm not used to doing ships and I'd love it to look polished and all. I'll also adjust my tile, because right now it's just a bunch of planks I've tried throwing together before trying to do a sketch (which I probably should have done but my 4 days were running out and I sadly couldn't take my time).

Sure you can use it.
I'll expect you to end your tile as a top quality one since it will start the mini collab and others will have to follow your style. But don't worry, you will get some feedback from us and in the end i can make a neighboring tile to help you if all else fails.

May I take #52? :)

Of course!

Also 1 person may take an independent tile too, as Speedycube's reservation has expired.

Keik & Lehmure; if you guys come back, please reserve a new tile.

No problem. Actually, this comes in handy.
I'll lurk for few days.

@Axotol: Done, reservation dropped.

@Ladmor: Good start! Note though that your tile's dimensions are a bit off and there are some stray pixels left off the bottom corner. Are you planning on adding any additional features?

I will try #47. :)

47 is all yours moondrome

@Ladmor; it's a good start but it's not finished.
The water looks good, but the whole tile is a little empty. Not that it's forbidden. The tile can be refined overall but these are the "must do"s:

* The colors are all wrong. Please check the palette in the first post.
* The tile size is a little bit too big.
* The cave is not isometric. Such an organic shape can be hard to make iso but it's possible. Just make sure it goes back 2:1 diagonally (not 45 degrees as you made). If you need help on what isometric is, please ask.
* The light is off. The rocks on the top should be lit better and the bottom vice versa.

Great tile again Irena.

Who wants to do an independent tile in the lower left right part?

Posted By: Irenaart
Date Posted: 19 April 2017 at 8:54am
@Gecimen; Thank you!
Can I take that independent tile? #15, if I can.
Or it is against the rules because I already took one of the five? Save Save

Should it be down left?

There are pirates too. Sky pirates from 'The edge chronicles'. Stone pilot (this is not outfit of Ku Klux Klan), prowlgrin rider and goblin with a spear.

No it's not against the rules, if you want #15, sure. I thought if somebody drew a lower tile it could expand the collab faster but it's not mandatory.

Btw, I meant lower right, the empty area lol. But #15 is definitely ok.

@sjhw1ia; nice characters :)

Getting #71.

I hope I didn't mess with colors. I think the problem is that some people (like me ) download the gif main file and start doodling . but when Is time to save your tile the template is a png file I save and some colors change in the process. is it possible ?

and photobucket sucks.

@moondrome;your colors are good, and the tile is going great!

But yes, that might happen to someone who uses photoshop with some unusual color settings.

@Reo; sure!

Some impressive stuff already! :)

@Veli, the well/tunnel/pit in #64 could use some shadow on the right side for proper lighting.

It's going good, but you know the upper 2 sides shouldn't be empty like that; your neighbours will have to have something to continue.

@Minord: 11 out of the 19 colors used are still off, see http://wouterpleizier.nl/pj/index.php?input=http%3A%2F%2Fi1149.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fo592%2FMinord%2FCollabF_png_zpsooramznk.png - here . Perhaps a setting on the software you are using?

@Drazile: All yours!

basic #67 wip just to inform of layout

@polyducks sure.

@drain it's great, the only thing is the person making the sea at #37 will have a hard time due to your water being much lighter and stiller than #36 and #44. would you like to revisit it?

i just gave them an isolated pond of water so that they can hug in peace

Umm the right side has to end as sea you know... not sure where that piece of land can end...
Wouldn't it be much easier to do something like this?

Edit: also if that's a grown up man on the octopus, it's too small for the scale.

Update on #29
Can I suggest next tile with those tentacles or should I leave it with something like shadow in the water?
