CHALLENGE: No Ma! It's a Comic!

What was back in the days looked down upon has now become a world-wide phenomenon. Boosting the need for good illustrators and artists all over the globe.

Comics are on the rise!

Former challenge winner and well-respected PJer, fan of comics and good illustrations http://pixeljoint.com/p/46978.htm - Arcade Hero wants you to create either a page or cover of a comic.

You can make up your own story or take a hero from an existing universe.

Canvas Size -  Max. 300x350.
Colors - Max. 32.
Transparency - No.
Animation - No.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp - submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8 - WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

This gave me such "my time has come" feels because comics are what I do when I'm not pixelling. I hope I can find the energy to participate!

Would it be acceptable to make a pixel art version of an NPA comic page I created before?

The thing about that is that it kind of contradicts the "Only new pixels allowed" rule for the challenge... That would give you an unfair lead on the other competitors in that you are leveraging previous work (e.g. the line art and design of the page).

This applies to everyone, no conversions of existing works allowed. Applies whether or not you were the author of said piece.

Sorry eishiya, hope this won't deter you too much from entering the challenge.

The layout of a page is probably the hardest part, so it makes sense that reusing it would be cheating.

It's no detriment! If I end up not participating, it will be because I've got real comic pages to draw ):

What I got going on so far... felt inspired to do this challenge. :) The right one was just trying out another possible composition.
