Hello everyone,
i work on a walkcycle for the maincharacter of my adventuregame. It was very troubled by this and had a few approach for animation. Because i have no expierience im not sure about the movements and the workprocess.
I decided a 6 frame walkcycle, instead of an 8 frame. Just having more retro feeling. Well ive seen legs have wrong colors...argh
I am thankful about all tipps to get a proper character for the game. Also clean up suggestions for the character.

The arms are very jerky and move way too fast. Keep in mind that the arms move at about the same rate as the legs, but in the opposite direction. The general leg movement is also off. They seem to speed up at times, which is not how legs works.
The best way to improve this is by looking at someone walking(even yourself) and trying to emulate that. Carefully study how the limbs move, and you will have a much nicer walk cycle.
The other problem is that your cycle is 6 frames. A walk consists of 4 primary parts, so using 6 frames will create some problems. If you want to go 'retro', just go to a 4-frame walk.

Hey Zubb,
thank you for your very helpful explaination of the walkcycle.
Well, i fixed the biggest defects out of my animation. Youre right the arms was really weird. :-D For now i got at least the right one in a proper movement. :)
You was right the leg-movement was off and seemed to be speed up at times. There was error in frame-speed setting. Had 133 and one frame was on 200.
For now, the figure is more looking like walking and further i will be happy to move the upper body with the walk and the movement of his hair. :)

Based upon how far the closest arm reaches beyond his body I would expect to see the further arm reach the same points as well. But I don't see it and the arms do not swing in a mirrored fashion about the body. As in, when one arm reaches out in front of the gut, the other should be extended behind the back.
