Hey guys, i've been working on a sprite for my game based on a yakama tribe mythos, the tah'tah'kle'ah loosely translated to owl women monster:  medicine women that turned into owls and devours childrens.

I'm mostly happy with the general design, but i'm not too sure about readability and palette. Any opinions?

The pose is very static and boring. Even for an idle sprite, I think a more interesting pose with a clearer silhouette would be good.

Is this for an RPG-view game (a bit from above)? If so, we should probably see more of the tops of the feet. They look more like front/side view now.

As for the palette, I quite like the feel of it! I think your two midtone pinks are too similar though, and so those parts look a bit flat. Increasing the contrast between them should help the details read more clearly. You may need to also shift the dark and light pinks to make room for the increased contrast.

Thanks a lot for the pointers, I'll work in that direction.

Alright I've started doing the 4 directions, made the color palette a bit colder and added the staff. Kept the pose mostly the same since it's the middle frame of a 3 frame walk and I want to keep it consistent with the other sprites. Attack animations and damage poses will add character to the sprite.

I'm obviously still open to critique.

The upward sprite is a bit weird, I always have trouble drawing my characters from behind.
