Howdy,
So it's the holiday season and I like snowmen so I decided to try get back into the creative spirit and make one.
I'm having a real difficulty adding texture, getting a well adjusted (and saturated) pallet, and just general n00b mistakes since I haven't pixelated in a few years. Here are some mock-ups I've been playing around with.
I'm trying to keep the colors pastel too! I might add animation (like idle movement) or text later in.

I work better with tough advice! Not afraid to scrap and restart. Any tips that could help me in the long time (or tutorial links) would be super appreciated.

Played around with the colors some more and decided sparkles to be the texture?

I'm pretty happy with the outcome now, but any advice would still be welcomes.

Hey Thrifting,
That is a lot of progress compared to the first one!

First thing: Please use imgur rather than photobucket, I couldn't download the image so had to screenshot it...

I'm not a big fan of low contrast or the dither glitter, but this is probably mostly a style choice. I edited it a bit to get more contrast in without ruining the style too much.

The shading is a bit inconsistent, on some places it seems to be top lit, but the face overall seems to be lit from the bottom, or even glow. I tried to fix that. I did mess up on the scarf on the right..

Anyway, I hope it's of any use to you!
