Hi guys! I've been working on this character for a while. It started out closer to the original 8bit MegaMan but I've been trying to take some distance from it and work the stance and volume.
I'd like to know what you think of it and if you have any tips to improve it further. I think it may have lost some readability in the process.
I'm working with NES-like limitations. Thanks!

I like the second, the third is a bit overkill yes.
The only feature that stands out is her hair, if you want her to be more distinguishable from megaman you might have to enhance other features either in form or color, eyes, waist, hips and chest... Right now without the hair she still reads like a guy.
Good luck!
About the design, isn't her hair loose like that very impractical? I'd hide it in my suit, or at least braid is or tie it off!

Thanks for taking the time to comment Hapiel!
I want the design to be subtle in term of gender identification. She's a woman, yes, but not feminine.
For the hair, you are right, but it works well for dramatic impression, and it's pretty much based on Zero from Mega Man X.
I'll keep toying with the design for a while before animating it.

It's a tricky design to be convincing without the femininity, because she is so extremely similar to Megaman. Perhaps consider some other, non feminine features which set her apart from the original design?

Yes, I want her to read as "Mega Woman". So I'm keeping close to Mega Man's design but want to have a distinctive look. I'm making steady progress, I'll keep this thread updated!

An example of how to help turn her into Mega Woman:
I made her less bulky, slimmer shoulders, thinner and longer legs. More pronounced chest armor, and tried to put some hair inside of her helmet. I based this on a quick google on "female megaman images" and picked out the common features which I liked.
I hope this helps a bit!
