I was just going to make a round light, but got carried away... Maybe if I make it more "S" shaped it would improve?

Using a reference photo might be helpful. What stick out most to me are the following:
Your flame is pillow shaded rather than having a progression. Candles don't really "spark" when burning steadily. Candle wax doesn't melt like that. Yours currently looks a bit like snow. Here is a quick edit that might give you some ideas.
