Hello, I'm Joan, I've started working on a Tile Set with Forest Theme in mind. I'm using DawnBringer's 32 color palette and some reference images ( I'll post a screenshot of references if needed ).

Tile Set:
Tile Size is 16x16, I've made some base tiles and some decorations.

My question is about details on dirt, should I change them or just leave it as a flat color? As it is now it can be tiled but I don't think it's perfectly tileable. Any other constructive criticism is welcome! Thanks in advance.

Try building a mockup before making composition-affecting decisions like whether to have the ground solid or not. A mock-up might also help you and others find potential flaws and stylistic mismatches more easily, and it would communicate your intent to people better.

Thank you, I'll take that advice and get a mock-up ready ASAP. I've been experimenting with different styles and shape for an hour or so and currently aside from the standard one, I have an example with Bubble Dither and Cracked dirt. But I'll put that aside and work on other essential objects for a Forest themed Tile Set.

Also, I've seen your tip on one of the other WIP threads regarding pixels not having to explicitly show cracks or similar patterns to make the brain realize what it actually is, I've used in grass, but I haven't experimented much past that, so thank you for that as well.

Finished for today, so I'll leave the latest version here in case there is some stuff I messed up.

The birch tree is WIP, still figuring out how I want it to look.
Also if anyone has any tips on drawing water that could be later animated they would be useful, as I'm having a hard time making okey looking water that could be animated.

Here is what I've done today, started a mock-up but it's still WIP and no background.
