I was brought in recently to do the art for an upcoming medieval 'text adventure.' Here is the first draft of the basic GUI design. Since the game will have a day/night cycle, I created two different backgrounds for each time of day:   The text and font are both placeholders and the bottom half (which will
contain various buttons) isn't done yet, but I'd love to receive some
critique on what I've done so far.

hi, I really like this font and it feels kind of medieval. However, I find it rather too common if what you want is antique-like lettering.
Maybe giving more presence to capital letters? Something like this:
